Take as long as you need to do a good job but don't poke along at it. Most RV'ers realize that this is not a job that any of us treasure and will be understanding and patient as they wait thier turn. Not too many people are in a hurry to mess with their tanks. It's a necessary evil.
If you can make conversation while your doing the deed it's even better. If you ooh and ahh over the next guys setup, he'll be so busy bragging about what he has, he won't even notice that you are finished!

Do what ever it takes to get the job done. If others think you take to much time, and get upset, SMILE  , and then just keep doing what you got to do.  Some units have more and bigger tanks than others, especially than a TT.

If I anticipate a line, as on Sunday afternoons at check-out time, I take just enough time to dump the tanks and rinse my hose. I pull forward out of the way and fill my black tank with water from my fresh water tank that I always put in just before leaving the campsite. I've got a little thing I bought at Camping World that holds the toilet open and keeps the water running (I do watch carefully) I let it slosh around while I drive home and then empty it at a dump station that is near my home. When I get home I fill it about halfway again and then empty it on my way into the next campground. May not be the best way, but it is my way.
On another note, I actually saw someone just pull up and pull the valve for the first time recently - No hose or anything. He did hose it down, but missed part of it (solids, I'm afraid). I'm hardly a germaphobic, but I soaked my Crocs in Clorox water afterwards. I was kind of wishing that camper had taken just a tad longer.

i am not sure how one can actually put a time on this. i for one am a weekend user, maybe 5 or 6 times a year. i am not the most experienced camper either. i dont mind waiting for one to drain their tanks, and dont really expect others to get pi55ed waiting for me either. i just do what needs to be done, and im gone. i have 4 tanks total, it will take longer than others. some take longer than mine. it is important for me to make sure my tanks are clean, it might be a while before i go again. its nothing where i live to get to 95 - 100 degrees with about 95% humidity during the summer. pretty sure im not gonna do a half a55 job just because some jerk off slept late.
on one other note, i would think walking up on someone when your mad and angry in the woods at a dump station isnt the smartest thing to do these days.....i waited my turn, you wait yours.

I am new to this deal of tanks. Used a popup for many years and didn't have to deal with it.
I have only had to use a dump station one time. I was probably there for 12-15 minutes. I had to be very systamatic about what I did to be sure I wasn't the clown who dumped it on the ground or something else I shouldn't have. I had the steps in my mind and had the material ready but still it was a new experience.
I did have the person come up that was behind me and asked me if "I was about done"? I was and told him so but still made sure it was done right. All you guys who know how it's done and it is like clock work need to also be considerate of us who are new and inexperienced.
The person who came up was not rude but did make me feel pressured and like I was taking too long. It also flustered me and I had to get my mind back in the game and be sure things were closed and capped properely.
Just a reminder that the guy in front of you may not be as experienced as you. Maybe instead of complaining offer a little assistance.

What I meant by this is, I have 3 tanks (two grays & 1 black), as long as it takes to drain them & one quick flush on the black tank & I'm gone (maybe 10 min. max).

Sounds like you did good, however, if you had mentioned that you were a "dumpsite virgin" and this was your first time, "please be gentle with me" He would have gotten a laugh and you would have felt less pressure to "preform"
