Generally inverters won't work on those outlets

However you said "The cord that came with the TV won't fit"

May I safely assume that it is a dual power TV (12/120 volt)?

If so,, The quality control on both the plug AND the socket, are not that great it often happens that a plug is just a couple mills too big and a socket likewise too small.. Sometimes they understand FORCE, sometimes use of a corded "Y" adapter (dual socket adapter) will work NOTE: I do not always find those are well built either)

We have the 12 volt plug on the booster plate with the antenna. I have used it to run many 12 items I take along. When we are boondocking can not use the booster but TV works if close enought to recieve signal from the station

Just check the draw in amps on your 12 volt TV and the fuse size in the plug circuit. We have the TV the is both 12 and 120 volts. The two different cords are polarized so it is very difficult to make a mistake on voltage with 120 being the standard lamp cord plug and 12 volts being the cigerette lighter type.
