I had a similar problem and found that the main door was not closing all the way, on my MH there are two positions, DW wife could pull in on the main door while driving and the rattle would stop. The main door was not closing all way against the screen door. Worked, might give a try.

Happy RVing

Wow! She must really have strong muscles...do you make her keep holding it for the entire trip so you don't hear the rattle?

JK...actually we've experienced the same...off and on...thought it was the rattling of the slide locking arms...but now will have to do a little more investigating. Thanks for the post and thanks for the replies!

it is a rattle or squeak? foam works for rattles but I'm battling a squeak. Darn I5!

Our squeeky door was driving us nuts. I could hear it even with ear plugs in. DH sprayed the door seals with slide lubricant and so far so good.

I have a 2008 Newmar Baystar with approx 1000 miles on the unit. The unit is equipped with the standard screen door found on most motorhomes and travel trailers. As you all know, this screen door captures in the solid door when opened and closed. The latch that captures the screen door does not have any adjustment to tighten that capture or prevent the door from rattling in the door frame/jam while driving.

I was wondering has anyone has come up with any unique ways of "quieting" the rattle these screen doors produce while driving. One thought I had was to install some foam weather strip around the screen door jam to absorb the rattle. Any other thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Lots of good advice, the little stick on dots have worked in the past for me, if you are really desperate you can cut and use the smooth half of Velcro and if you still have a problem add the other side to hold it tight in a few spots.

Like I said the small felt dots will usually solve all my squeaks.

I had the same problem with our screen door and what I did was unscrew the rubber bumpers on the main door and put a spacer ( I used a 1/4" nut) between the bumper and the door moving the bumper out. Now it's quiet.

I took our screen door off. I tried readjusting it a few times, but the rattle combined with the occasional having to open it when it didn't open with the main door got to be a real pain in the 4SS - so I just did away with the problem by taking it off.

Simple procedure, just took it off at the hinges and I don't miss it a bit.

Ok, I had a similar rattle but it was not the door itself as the rest of you have experienced. We could put our hand on the door while driving and the noise would persist. We found it was comming from the top folding hinge, not the piano hinge but the one at the top that is a folding arm to controll or limit the door travel. When the door was closed and it was folded up it was a little loose and would just sit there and rattle to beat the band. I took a piece of my wifes hair elastic for pony tails? and wedged it between it and it stopped. I felt good that day I can tell ya...
