One case that I know of. One that I have found. However, based on the internal documents it is clear the Shell Oil executives were willing to do whatever it took to manipulate prices. It is also clear that they were willing to lie to the public to cover themselves. As far as I'm concerned that means they would be willing to do it again if they thought they would not get caught.
How they are manipulating prices was clearly laid out in the link I provided.
And I did no research to find any of this. Someone simply posted it here. What would we find if we really tried? It's clear that they are getting rich over all this. It's clear that it is hurting the US economy. It seems that they don't care. My guess is that the price will stop climbing shortly before it causes the economy to collapse, but not before. That is, unless current laws are better enforced and/or better ones are enacted.

The next time they report their profits they will set a new record, again...

Guilt by association, gotta love it. Best watch out, since you are contributing to their illegal profits, you could be held accountable for them and the law could come after you. I forget the actual legal terminology, but if you were not buying the product, they wouldn't be making these so called illegal profits. Yup, guilt by association. Gotta' love it.

Although it appears to be simple arguing, there is some valuable information in these posts. One thing for sure, we can certainly tell who owns oil company stocks and who doesn't. I feel for those folks out there (especially the disabled) that are having to cope with record higher prices across all market sectors, because of high fuel costs. I'm just a compassionate guy I guess.
Me too! It's a good sign that those of us posting here, aren't out buying gas or diesel, anyway. Group therapy, don'tcha know.....
If the thread runs long enough, it might get around to Major League Baseball, and how it's out-of-control and ruining America too!
I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

You are right that companies report on an annual basis. But they also report on a quarterly basis. Hence the eagerly awaited reports by the stock market every 3 months.
I worked for several several of the top 100 companies and bean counters outnumbered everyone else. They could, within minutes, give you the current costs, liabilites, accounts receivable, profits and anything else each plant were responsible for. Heck, they could tell you how may rolls of T.P. that was bought 3 days before but would not be paid for until at least 30 days had passed. Often, there was a discount if paid within 30 days. Never paid within that time frame and always deducted the discount anyways.
That is not what I was saying. HOW they are working together to manipulate prices was clearly explained. The Shell Oil story simply demonstrated what SHELL OIL was willing to do.
The bottom line is that prices ARE BEING MANIPULATED. It was all clearly explained.

I worked a brief amount of time with a huge company that would pay in exactly 45 days, from invoice date. And took the discount.

I'd be happy to just start requiring Iraq to pay reparations for their liberation in the form of cheap oil, and then Iraq to pay us back for reconstruction costs instead of the US taxpayer and the declining dollar taking the hit. Every other defeated country in history has had to pay reparations and pay for their own reconstruciton costs and Iraq shouldn't be any different.

I fully realize they report quarterly. If you look at the dates, they are neither the end nor the begining of a quarter.

New laws are constantly necessary. The ability to manipulate the price of ones product was never intended. It happens all the time, I don't see why you think it is funny.
If "you" are fine with being taken advantage of, then don't complain. However, I'm not, therefore I complain.
AO,
Are there other companies or industries taking advantage of you? I'm just curious. Maybe the Cops that won't let you park on the street or something?
Good Luck.
