Well,I just went up and tried to adjust mine and did five before I got too frustrated to finish..They all worked ok for a couple of times, then a couple of the screws pulled right out of the wall..Back to the drawing board.. I think I've got some plastic wood I can shoot thru the old holes and then try again...I don't even think that wall board (?) is even 1/4 thick..I'm not ghonna flame Keystone,'cuz it's most of the manufacturers as most of them all get it from the same place..

My end caps keep falling out if I don't left them evenly. We had 2 plastic spools break. I am finatic about being careful, but DH forgets and there goes the shades.....Love the concept, but they are not operator friendly.
Anyone know where to buy replacement spools?

They have a three year warranty. If you take them down, the date stamp is on the top along with address and phone number. Sounds like your strings are breaking loose. I had two of mine fixed previously and no more problems. If out of warranty, give them a call and you may be surprised at how cheap they repair them for you. They usually have a turnaround repair of a day or two. Real nice folks to deal with.

We gave up on the plastic spools and now use metal sewing maching bobbins. The only drawback is that there is no adjustment-by-rotation. However, once the strings are adjusted by proper knot0tying, they stay adjusted for us. We have restrung ours with heavy braided Dacron fishline, which lasts and lasts and doesn't stretch.

If you are having problems with your day/night shades or need parts call them. These are the folks that made the shades that are in your coach.

Man,you people are great...I asked Keystone if they would like to pay to have the wall fixed where the spools were pulling out... Oh well,it was a good try, even if, as they said I'm a full year out of warranty.. Guess I shouldn't have messed with the shades..

Until this weekend I couldn't understand why so many people were unhappy with their day/night shades. Ours work great and I wouldn't want anything else.
Then, this weekend we joined friends who were taking their brand new FR Sierra on its maiden voyage. Their day/night shades were terrible! Compared to ours they were a decidedly inferior fabric, the tension was bad and difficult to adjust, the adjustment screws/brackets were coming out of the walls, the "dark" section was just a thicker white fabric, not dark brown like ours, and didn't do much to block out any light, ...suddenly I understood the problem some of you encounter with your shades. Our friends were already discussing replacement options before the weekend was over.
And this was after they had specifically selected a trailer with these shades because they had often traveled with us and liked the way our shades looked and functioned.

Have you dealt with these people? Three of my shades have broken strings, I found a site that sells them, but would love to get them cheaper or for FREE!

When we had our 2000 DSDP we wnated the interior darker, contacted Specialty and they sent a book of swatches. Ordered all new higher quality shades with light blocking material on the back of the night shade. They weren't that expensive either. When we ordered the 2002 DSDP we factory ordered the light blocking material on all shades. Works wonders.

Ours were manufactured by Irvine Shade & Door, Inc. (two locations, California and Indiana.) My buddy with the new Sierra says the label on his shades is indeed Specialty Window Coverings. As I said earlier, ours are great, while his have a myriad of problems. Maybe Irvine has different levels of quality and we just got lucky that Komfort selected a good one, or maybe the manufacturer makes a difference.
Hmmm...
