Does anyone ever read the manuals that come with anything any more?
I found some really incredible stuff in the ones I have.
Mind if I ask, is your VCR still flashing 12:00?

Manuals are for the geek squad, you know, the mechanically challenged. LOL

I am PRETTY Smart when it comes to Electronics and TV's Sat systems. The Forest River Class A's we sell have the Olevia HD Tv's. A customer had this problem and I CAN GURANTEE that the manual was not any help on the black box problem. It took a while, but we figured it out. The Olevia TV is one of the most difficult I have ever seen when it comes to set up for the various functions. Doug

Our friends bought a Windsport with the Olevia & it did not come with a manual. It came with a CD which is really stupid!

The black box is on because you have selected either close captioning or another text option but the program does not have close captioining available. Make sure you have cc turned off. At least, this is what happened to me with another brand of tv.

BINGO!

DW does this from time to time, the CC button on the remote is too close to the numeric pad where she dials in the channel. Ability to display Closed Captioning is required by law, most TVs have two channels of CC, and two channels of Text Box. Most TV stations have at most one channel of CC, so if you get into the captioning, good chance you will bring up an empty black box.

Controls should be on the remote, but can be buried in the menu system. That's good for another set of problems, MIL would get into her menus, get those into a language she couldn't read, then she couldn't find her way back out, would have to turn off the TV.
