2006 Coachmen Cross country SE. When boondocking, the inverter will run the TV, VCR etc but the 110 outlets are dead. I have a CPAP (small fan) that I would like to run on 110. The inverter/convertor has plenty of capacity but without the outlets, I have to run an extension cord to the plug behind the tv. Is there a simple way to turn on the outlets? Naturally, the service department is closed on Saturday and this is the first time I tried to use an outlet on battery.

Are we having fun yet?

The outlets will not work unless you can hook the shore power cord to the genset. The shore power cord is the only way to get power to the outlets that I am aware of. Good luck.

I have the same coach (2005. Unless you purchase a larger inverter, and probably more batteries. Your capacities (wattage)will be pretty low. The 110 outlets inside the TV compartment are wired to your inverter. I suppose, in a pinch you could run a cord from one of those. The final fix would be to chose a regular outlet to rewire to the inverter.

1. check your GFIC outlet. Is it tripped, if so reset it. If it won't reset, it's not getting power. go to step 2.
2. check the pop-out fuses on the inverter itself. If one or both are popped out, push them in to reset.

Hi,

The CPAP machine is only about a 100 watt load (or less), so just about any inverter will power it. If you are running the humidifier heater, that will add a little but more to the wattage.

If you try top plug in the 50 amp RV power cord to your inverter, besides having to leave the window open, you will have many problems, including the battery charger being energized. (I don't suggest that, like the post above).

What you need to figure out is what circuit breaker feeds your bedroom, and then move that circuit onto the inverter.

It might be just as easy to install a seperate inverter near the bedroom, and run that at night to power your CPAP machine. Costco sells a 500 watt portable inverter, and if wired to a cigarette lighter, it can handle a 200 watt load (more than enough) when connected to #10 wire and a 20 amp fuse.

I installed several cigarette lighter receptacles in my RV, so I could use a small portable inverter to power a small fan, charge my electric scooter, run the laptop outside, ect.

You could also tap into a exsisting 12 volt circuit in the bedroom to power the inverter. There is probably already a heavy duty 12 volt circuit to feed the rear TV set. Or you might have 120 volts from the inverter to the rear TV?

Fred.

Did you try all outlets in the MH??
Ours has some of them (basically the pass side) on the inverter and the drivers side on shore/gennie. None in the rear are on inverter on ours except the rear TV.

My CPAP will also run on DC.

Is there a DC outlet in your bedroom?

Hint, look behind the TV set. I ran a DC extension cord FRom behind my bedroom TV set to the CPAP -- works just fine, and would be, I suspect, much easier on your house battery.

Just a thought.

We use a C-PAP Machine and ours will run on 110V or 12V. We ordered a 12V adapter and it plugs into the cigarette lighter style plug located in the Bedroom, next to the Radio/Stereo. Yours may differ.

Good Luck

Depends on how they wired the inverter. Mine, as installed, runs the TV's and such, the Microwave and the GFCI chain (Bathrooms, Kitchen outlet, Dining table outlet and outside outlet) My bedroom outlets share a daisy with the Fridge.

For assorted reasons I decided I wanted to (optionally) run the fridge on the inverter as well... So I added a transfer switch and some other wiring. This too works as advertised. Also powers the bedroom

For this weekend I'd run the extension cord

For next trip I'd ask to have ONE outlet instelled on the proper side of the bed that is inverter powered. Please have them use an outlet that is either RED or ORANGE as these colors suggest "emergency" and to folks used to this type of thing this means "has power when power fails"

And even to those who don't know the meaning it means "This outlet is special"

What am I missing here? What size is your inverter? My 1000W inverter powered my CPAP for 6 nights on my way back from Oregon to NW Ohio (via L.A.).

Why wouldn't the inverter power all outlets? I can understand that there are load limits, and you couldn't run everything at once, but certainly at night with only the CPAP, some nightlights, and some other occasional items you should be fine.
