We have heard the road approaching Jekyll Is. is very rough.
Any comments on this?
We should be there around April 20-21 & wonder what to be prepared for.
Thanks!

Not rough at all ??....it is a two-lane road, well paved, beautiful wildflowers the entire way with marshland on both sides of the road...the road is maybe 6 miles ?? We love Jekyll Island and go every October...unless they have torn it up since last October, I can't imagine anyone saying it is a rough road.

SO MANY PLACES, SO LITTLE TIME
May I suggest that while you are there, go to St. Simons Island and see the lighthouse in the village...also, Fort Frederica is quite interesting...try the "4th of May Cafe" in the village..MmmMmm Good food...other places in the area that we enjoy are Blythe Island campground, Crooked River State Park (at St. Mary's, GA)..you can ferry over to Cumberland Island if you like...gosh, I wish I was there now...as a Georgia Natives, the Georgia Coast is a very special place to us. We love it. Can't wait until October.
We go there often, was there this past January, be there again in June and next January, and have no idea why the causeway would be deemed "rough". Like others have said, nice 2 lane paved road, beautiful scenery. BUT, watch your speed!!! It is heavily patrolled as there is a state patrol station just before the entrance to the island itself, and the island is likewise patrolled by the state troopers. Never been "tagged" myself, but have seen many others get the opportunity to contribute to the state coffers. Take your bikes if you have 'em, as Jekyll has 20+ miles of paved, level bike paths. Sections of this can be rough in places, but we noticed this last time that a lot of it has been re-done. Cruise on over to St. Simon's, visit the village area, spend a small fortune at Roberta's clothing for kids/grandkids (like my better half insists on doing every trip), and have a bite to eat at Nautica Joe's (an advertising plug, as this is owned by a friend of ours). Enjoy your trip!!!!

I agree, no problems at all with the road to Jekyll Island.
We were there last fall and LOVED it, so much that we reserved for
6 weeks this fall. Can't wait!
Go and have a great time!
