We want to spend next January and February 2009 camping in the Venice FL area. We have a 36' MH. I located a list of CG, but having never camped in Venice area, not sure which ones are good. The choices are:
1-Camp Venice Retreat
2-Stay_N_Play
3-Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort
4-Ramblers Rest
5-Siesta Bay
6-Myakka RV Resort
7-Harbor Lakes RV Resort
8-Pleasant Lake RV Resort
9-Royal Coachman RV Resort
10-Punta Gorda RV Resort
As you see, there are many to choose from. I have been burned before picking a campground based on their website pictures and info. Any help on which one to choose would be appreciated.
Another option is Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, just north of Venice....lots of vegetation, a swimming hole, some nature trails, and clean. When you're in the Venice area, hunt up Sharkey's on the Beach for lunch. Camp on!
We spent the month of Feb. at Ramblers Rest and really enjoyed it. Very clean, good size sites and the staff is very nice and helpful. Areally nice pool area. The only downer was the Wifi which seldom worked, we had to get a refund. Other than that , I would surely returnto R R.
As far as the other campgrounds you mentioned we toured Royal Coachman and found it to be quite cramped and extremely over priced. We drove by Myakka River Rv but did not go in, it looked nice though.
We toured Harbor Lakes . It too was nice with wide streets and fairly large sites. A large park.
We also walked through Venice campground. A fairly nice park but a very small pool. Hard to get in and out of the park because of the long ,narrow dirt road in.We talked to a few people that have stayed there and were told there are way too many rules. The owner seemed unfriendly to us, we would not go back here.
If you go to Venice for a stay be sure to eat and Capt. Eddies and the Left Coast Seafood CO. Also for a nice treat on a hot afternoon stop at the DQ(Chill and Grill) on Venice Ave. I think you will really enjoy it, we sure did. Any other questions, give me a shout.
I haven't tried the Reviews path yet. Thanks 1951 Elmer for your info. All this is helpfull. The Painting Teacher, I'll check out the SP. However, aren't they only water/electric? To stay for a month or two, sewer hookup would be helpfull.
