I really liked the posts for favorite Michigan SP's so I thought it would be interesting to do my home state.
I live near Mirror Lake SP, just outside the Dells and go there often for a short trip. You're not in the Dells but in a nice wooded setting without the party atmosphere a Devil's Lake SP, which is beautiful but often noisy.
Mirror Lake is a nice one, but we haven't been able to get res's there on weekends we wanted to go, for a number of years. We'll have to get back there, now that we can go on weekdays!
Our favorite is Wyalusing. The view is just unbeatable from Wis. Ridge CG. Downside is that most sites are not suitable for larger rigs, but I'd get a shoehorn & go anyway.
A close second for us is Point Beach SF. Beautiful wooded CG and a nice beach. Many sites are huge, and quite private.
Third is Kohler-Andrae. More manicured, but if we can get one of the shaded sites with electric, it's great. Fantastic beach.
Fourth is our "local" CG, Bong SRA. We have grown to love it as a prairie park, but it's now growing up itself, with more privacy between sites, more trees, etc.
We love the Wisconsin SP's! We love Devil's Lake as it is only 1.5 hours away and beautiful. Peninsula SP has it all for our family- biking, swimming, views and a short bike ride into town. It is a bit farther for us at 3.5 hours. Gov. Dodge is huge! We love the lakes, biking and the waterfall. We will be camping at Gov. Dodge and Point Beach this summer. Never camped at Point Beach but we are looking forward to it. We are sticking closer to home this year as the gas prices are crazy. We are lucky that we have so many nice places to camp only a few hours away!

Just a comment: Interstate has no hookups and is across the St Croix River from a MN SP of the same name. Nice view of the river gorge - pretty impressive as the river makes a sharp turn in the gorge between the two parks. Many of the campsites in Interstate seem to be pretty small (i.e. short).
We don't have any pictures of Mirror Lake, but it's a very wooded park. Quite pretty.
We don't camp in any but we do lots of hiking in them. Our favorite is Peninsula state park. Another great one is Wildcat Mt. were I tent camp & ride horses once a year.
1) Kettle Moraine South - Pinewoods. You want privacy? wow.
2) Nelson Dewey - Nice campground, never full, there just isn't much to do and kind of out of the way. Oh, and trains roll past down below regularly.
3) Blue Mounds - I grew up in this campground and still like it
4) Mirror Lake - Getting harder and harder to get a site though
5) Governor Dodge
6) Perrot - beautiful cg on the Mississippi
7) Point Beach SF

I am so happy to hear so many of you like Mirror Lake. We are headed there next month for our first ever tent camping trip as a family.
I reserved last minute and I am a bit concerned about our location (site 115) because I noticed that whole row is the last to book up sooooooooooooooo I know there is something wrong with it lol
But we are plugging ahead!
Any thoughts about the park/site please share! Thanks
