I understand you can put the pot in the sink while traveling. My question is: do you pad the sink with towels or something so it doesn't slip around in there? Any opinions are valued. Thanks in advance.

I wrapped it with paper towels and padded the rest of the sink to keep it from moving around. You may want to cook on a lower setting because all the extra insulation holds in the heat.

I place the crock pot in our cooktop, and haven't had a problem, yet, knock on wood.

Ours sits on the counter top on a non skid mat never moved in 10,000 miles. We use ours on regular 110v from our inverter, never had a problem. It's great to travel all day and have a nice hot meal when you get there.

We usually have beef tips, carrots, potatoes, vegetables in (12 Volt)crock pot. We put pot in large boiler (in basement) where if it tips over boiler to catch over flow. Secure (starch cord came with pot)the top on good;and about 8 hr. later cooked then a little rice. Wonderful after a long day of driving. We check it at rest stops every couple of hours to make sure OK. We have cooked this way at least 15/20 time in the past two years.
PS...The 12 Volt crock pot we have works well for two or three people any more need larger pot. (ROADPRO CROCKPOT) 12 volt slow cooker MD#RPSL-350 as posted above by (jfmoots) Roadpro said used 6.5 to 7 Amps.... or 78 to 84 watts.
hope this will help
