Nope. I installed an hdtv in the trailer and get hd broadcast just fine with my antenna.

The way I understand it; The analog signal will be shut off on 2/9/09.
If you are hooked to cable you are okay. If you are using an analog antenna you need one of those digital converters. I could be wrong and if I am I'm sure by February 9, 2009 I will get it right!
I wonder how long it will be before the antenna makers come out with digital antenna's ?

Your installed antenna will work just fine if you are in range of a local station. Ours works great but some small problems in a heavy rain storm.

The standard batwing RV antenna will pull digital signals in just fine. Batwing antenna manufacturers have come out with "digital" versions of their antenna's but that's because they want to sell you a new one. Save your money and use what you have.

Digital transition could cost cable customers money and was surprised to learn that thanks to transition, she would have to rent a converter box for $5.95 per month, per television set. John Dunbar AP said people will find out if the FCC edcationals efforts is doing is really misleading everybody. So I would get the coupon that they are offering to purchase the converter box. I know that I am going to get the coupon and purchase the converter box for my home and RV. The article is very educational and think people are going to be surprised to find out that they will have to pay extra from the cable companys.

FYI Do not take the cable companies word for it. Take a look at the fed stuff and other pubs like magazine and newspaper articles. The cable co here "Charter" wants more money to "view" hd but does not demand a box upgrade. They are treating it like another tier. The Sat co's like Dish are trying to do the same kind of tiering thing. The way I understand it, you only need a converter box if your Television set is real old and not prepared for hd.
Fun is that stuff that happens in between mistakes.

Different types of antennas are tuned to different frequencies (for TV antennas that was channels 2-69). Whether the transmission is digital or analog does NOT matter to the antenna. It is the frequency, so no need to change the antenna. In my opinion, the "digital antenna" hype is advertising hyperbole.
