One of the things most economic experts warn about in an economic downturn is people making counter intuitive decisions. ie. My stocks lost money and are low I'll have to sell, I can't afford my morgage so I'll sell (when the housing market is flooded). I personally don't like the price of fuel but on the otherhand maybe it will be less crowded this summer with people taking more expensive ways to vacation then their rv's.

I didn't say I couldn't afford it, I said I couldn't justify it.

I got that part - and I suppose we'll all have those moments when we say the cost of RVing to an event just isn't worth it?? I'm not talking the increase in the cost of travel, because as others have shown, the increase is doable for most folks - but simply that going to a place isn't fun enough to justify the fuel. And I suppose ultimately, some folks may say the costs of RVing aren't worth it anymore??

Personally, I'd rather watch a car race on TV anyway - but still LOVE to travel in our MH. The cost of gas is NOT keeping us home - if anything, we plan to travel MORE, figuring gas isn't going to get any cheaper.

Anyone else had sad second thoughts on trips?

No, never.

Anyone who thinks life is hard or expensive in the USA needs to get out and travel more of the world. We have it so good and easy here it is unbelievable.

i feel your pain. RVing, for me, is not that interesting. I like going places, not just going to a park and live in the trailer. Yeah, you meet great people, but my trailer is not that comfortable.

I agree with Wayne_tw and Topflite51. If you can't afford it now, you won't afford it later.

If you're in trouble enough where you have to cancel a $1000.00 trip with (an approximated) $200,000.00 signature posted, then you should rethink everything.

I have to agree with the posters questioning your real intentions here.

With (an estimated) $200,000.00 signature listed, if you can't afford a $1000.00 weekend trip, you need to rethink everything financial.

Could there be a Rexhall on EBAY soon?

We considered canceling our trip to montana because of the high price of fuel. I think we will be able to go. We are going to try and save money other ways. First of all we are useing our cr-v as our commute vechical. This saves us not only fuel cost but maintance since it has 100k extended warenty and free oil changes for life. We also only eat out on special ocasions. My mother in law and father in law are going also to help split fuel cost. We are going to delay upgradeing our tow vechical and trailer for longer than we thought.
If u can make scarifices that ofset fuel cost it might still be possible to go on camping trips.
We made camping our number one and proabley one of the few lesure activity that cost money.
Tc happy camping

When you get to Montana buy something really expensive such as, tires for the RV, diamonds, 50 " flat panel TV's(2) and what you save in sales tax will off set the additional costs of fuel.......

If you can't justify a trip like that, a 2002, 40 ft. Rexair parked in the yard should be a REAL stretch.
