I like the digital camera idea. My 10 year old is generally quite shy, but when you put a camera in his hand, he's much more outgoing. He takes some fabulous pictures...and some creative ones. We have a few pictures of the inside of his mouth and up his nose

Little pink tent.

There are several varieties in the retails stores. Dora, princes, etc. One of those that you twist to fold into a bag. Then just take it out and it pops up.

I got my daughter a picnic set complete with all the cups, plates and silverware. It comes in a handy case. She absolutely loves it.

How about a bicycle or tricycle just for camping. I bought my daughter a tricycle when she was three and taught her how to ride while camping. Now she has a bicycle and can't wait to ride with me as soon as we arrive at CG.

Fisher Price makes pop-up camping set now complete with fishing pole, campfire, and chairs. It is PINK! Coleman has lots of great stuff for kids (you can usually find the same thing cheaper if not brand-name) but look at their website for ideas. Our daughters and now our granddaughters all had their own fishing poles by that age. Bug lanterns or bug barns for lighting bugs (fireflies some folks call 'em), a flashlight, a chair, a hat. Just go walking around in Wal-Mart, and you will be amazed at the things you can find.

If you can, take her camping in the driveway for her birthday. She won't care where the TT is sitting, but the fact that she is inside it. We have done this for our kids every year. I have one in January and one last weekend. They love it and are now 9 and 7.

Ordered some books from Woodalls that are great for camping kids. Think there were four of them and each covers different things about camping and exploring. Great watercolored type pictures too. Our kids love for use to read them to them and then do some of the activities while camping.
