This is the photo on the Blue Ox Website for a 2006 Tahoe the tabs are in the place in this photo...pull the tabs and you will see virtually nothing...so I am confused
The Tahoe shares a baseplate with the Avalanche not the Silverado.

If you application is different than this, can you post a photo?

Well, I'm a pretty faithful Blue Ox user as well, having been well treated over the last ten years, including a recent free inspection and servicing of my tow bar.
It's not really clear what the problem is. The attachment points in the above picture do protrude about 3 inches, but they are easily removed when not needed. That's about as good as it gets baseplate-wise.

Hello All - I should have posted a few photos. I would also like to say In my original post Blue Ox did offer support if I drove the car to Nebraska. I live in Kentucky. You would think they would have figured this out. It's not like my toad is a Dodge Viper. Also I have the pins removed and compare to silverado in their photo. Also Avalanche is same part number as Tahoe for 2006. Oh and of course it's my wife's car!

If something as insignificant as this bothers you - then possibly you are in need of more help than what you will receive from the folks on this forum.
Good Luck to you

I some how doubt that the Roadmaster base plate will be any less ugly than the Blue Ox. If those tabs for the safety cables are pulled back inside you will have lots of fun trying to connect the safety cables. We can't always have it both ways.
