What is a good hourly rate $$ for workcamping, with the wages going to the lot rent? Will be working in the office to greet new incoming RVs and take them to their campsites. Work hrs will be flexible!

To begin with - RV site and utilities should be furnished - you pay cable TV, telephone, if wanted. Wages by the hr should be at least the minimum wage for hrs worked. Decide how many hrs a week you will need to work for the site and wages, 35 hrs a 7 day week are ???.

Endless number of contracts can be worked out.

With all wages going to lot rent? So you're working for site only? In that case, a good rate is whatever you feel is fair to be in that campground, working however many hours per week.

In most cases, you could check the monthly rate for your site, add any other perks, then figure out if that makes it worthwhile to you.

While I envy those of you who can work camp, I have talked with many people at different camp grounds, where we have stayed, that were work camping. These mostly were at private campgrounds or corporate owned large name brand campgrounds.

About the norm I got from these people is that about a 20 hour work week covers your lot. Some include cable and internet but not all. Then for any hours over the 20 it varies between $7-$10/hr. All of this info is second hand from only people whom I have talked with. All say they have some type of contract which outlined this as well as the time frame in months that they will stay and work.

One told me that a campground that they had just come from, they served breakfast every morning. His job there was to fix and serve pancakes every morning for a couple of hours. What fun.

Hope this helps in some way. Please post and let us know how it works out. Good luck.

Everybody has their own idea of what is fair but at the CG we spend the summer at (north of Seattle) I work 17 hours a week for the site. I usually work all the hours in 2 days so I have the rest of the week to go do stuff. Some folks would rather work a couple of hours a day. You can usually work it out with the owner as long as both of you are reasonable. If they aren't reasonable then just move on down the road. Workamping jobs seem easy enough to come by.

My personal feeling is that anything that doesn't add up to minimum wage for the state you are working in is not a fair wage. So if the hours worked divided into what it would cost you to stay there are less than that, adding in any other perks, I would not accept the job. Just my two cents.
