Thanks for the welcome for us "newbies"! Actually, we are newbies to rallies, but as per our profile, we are senior members of the forum. We were camping for over 15 years in a truck camper ourselves. Just started with the (Class A) a little over two years ago.
No response from the young camper couple as yet. We just met them at a Pupapalooza last month. Really nice folks. I could assume that they might have a family function on Thanksgiving. We'll see.

Anyway, our TC is a 1987 Lance 11‘.3” and the truck is a 1985 one ton GMC. We beefed this truck up with additional springs, but I think that we still needed dulies (sp?). (We actually get better gas mileage in the motor home. The GMC has a 454!!!)
We still have this unit parked at our stick home. It is all equipped with food and water for a get away vehicle. Just in case of an emergency.
We traveled in this TC for many years and it is my fourth camper since I was in my 20's.
I can see the advantages of the TC over a motor home, but that was a drastic change you two made.
We went the other way because we had a great scare with a blow out on highway 5. We almost lost it. The tire blue into the wheel well, damaged that and the rear end of the camper too. Ever since then, we were very uneasy traveling in that unit.

PS: Just kinda kidding about the boxed wine. However, we have tipped a few from a box before too.
I was kinda jokeing about the wine.The rule pretty much goes buy what the wagon master drinks.
We loved the MH and it was a blast to drive but for now we are happy with the TC. Between hauling boats and quad trailers the MH was just not the ticket. I'm sure we will be back in one in the next few years.
Your TC/Truck rig sounds like a nice one and I bet that 454 did the job but wanted to be fed.
Yeah, we only tow the toad. Always wondered how one would launch a boat from a class A. That would be fun.
Our Lance/GMC are in great shape for their age. Only 30,000 miles on the truck and the camper is almost like new. The camper has the separate dry shower and the side bench seat instead of the "U" dinette area. We loved it, but when it rained we were a sorry mess. No way to get comfortable. In the TC we get only 5 to 6 miles per gallon and have gotten up to 8.5 in the motor home. Also, the truck just chugs on regular unleaded. Thirsty for premium.

Hi, Kevin & Dawn, and welcome! I've been away from the Internet for a few days so didn't get to welcome you earlier. This is a great group, John & Marcelle have done a great job in putting this excusion together, and Jackson Rancheria is a beautiful spot.
Our DD lives in Hayward. She has 13 month old twin boys, so we get up there fairly often.
We had a small Class C for many years before taking the leap to a Class A in 2005. Like Butch said, we love the MH, but it can't go lots of places that the Class C would go. We've gotten pretty spoiled having an icemaker, microwave/convection, 2 TV's, storage, slides, etc.
