I currently have a Generac 3500 portable generator that is annoying to run but works well when we need to use the A/C. I have looked at the Honda EU2000 and like the low db levels. Of course, I would need to purchase 2 @ about $1000ea plus the parallel adapter to run the A/C. The big advantage is that I would have a single small unit to use for battery charging, microwave etc when camped at the beach and A/C is not needed. Does anyone know (hopefully someone who owns one) how well the Honda EU3000 performs when using A/C? It too runs at a low db level and may suit my needs/wishes if it performs as required.

Your choice for either two 2000i's or one 3000 Honda genny as both setups will run most AC's today...

Difference between the 2 setups, besides price, is one 2000i weighs 46 lbs while one 3000 weighs ~ 150 lbs (but you can buy wheels for it)...also when you don't think you will need to run the AC you have the option of only taking one of 2000i's along...

Lot of topics on the subject.
Generally the 3000 with heavier weight gives you less noise, electric start and big tank. I keep my EU3000 in my conversion bay, that has floor 8" above the ground. Easy to slide out and my condition allows me to carry it few hundreds feet if I need to.
Two 2000's give you more flexibility and less weight to carry at one time, but than you have to deal with pull cords, paralleling, adding extended run tanks and much more hassle.
decisions, decisions.

$1000 is too much for one honda 2000 You can get them cheaper than that. you need to look around. if you have a United rentals store near you check them out, tell them the Pasco Washington store sent you or Wise.com or some of the other on line stores that sell and ship free to you. If nothing else, let me check with my SIL for a price. email me if you want me to look into it for you

I went with two Honda 2000s. You can find them for less than $900 each if you look around especially on the web.

Check with WiseSales for the Honda 2000's. I've bought several from them at $870 each including freight. Service is outstanding.

I have the Yamaha 3000 iSE. It runs our 15,000 btu a/c fine. I'm sure the Honda will do as well and their both quality built quiet running units. I happened to be in a Cabela's store Saturday and noticed the had the 1000 watt, 2400 watt and 3000 watt yamaha units for sale.

So for a single AC how big does one need to be? 2500, 3000, 4000? If I remember our smaller 5th wheel has a 13000BTU unit. I've measured current and it surges to about 15A before it settles down to about 10A.

I don't want to run any other major appliances, just the AC and a couple of lights.

I have looked at dual gensets as I like the idea of taking along only a smaller one when not during summer.

I agree that EU2000i prices are in the $870 range and you can build the parallel cables for under $50 (easily), which puts you in the same price range as a EU3000i.

Some of the advantages of the EU2000i are weight and size allow them to be stored and transported in a trailer's compartment (theft deterrent), the ability to use one if you have a problem or don't need the other, the fact that you can (and will) use them for a lot of other uses since they are often easier than running extension cords, the fact that you can easily build an auxiliary fuel tank that will extend your run time to 16 hours or more and they (paralleled) put out 4000 watt peak and 3200 watts constant. Because it has no electric start, you have no battery to keep up.

Some advantages of the EU3000i are it's a little quieter than the twins 2000's, it has electric start and can be bought with remote start, it has longer run time without adding an auxiliary tank.

You might also consider the Yamaha 2400 that many owners say will run their AC.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!
