The Zenith DTT901 (I picked up one at Circuit City) also has a full remote that you can use to control your TV and has pass-through. (The older Zenith DTT900 didn't have pass-through. The Zenith and Insignia models are also identical - They are both made by LG Electronics. Circuit City sells the Zenith, Best Buy sells the Insignia...)

But thusfar only external creature confort features have been mentioned here. It should be pointed out that internal workings of these things all have varying results. Being able to just use one remote is nice but the ability of the tuner to lock onto and hold a weak signal is more important to me.
Thusfar, from all the reports I've read the Zenith models come out on top for that. The Digital Stream boxes get only fair reviews on it, for example.

Don't forget: If you have a new HD ready TV, you will NOT need a converter. I just found out when my older front RV went South. Bought a new Toshiba and it does not require a converter.

Got two Insignia from BB and one of the features I liked best was the ability to monitor signal strength and/ or manually add a channel I know exists in the area and use the signal strength meter to tune it in.Can also program to operate TV.

Buy the way, there is no number to call if I have trouble with the Insignia.

The NS-DXA1 user's guide I downloaded has a number listed: 1-877-467-4298 or www.insignia-products.com

DO any of the converters you all know of run off of DC 12 volts? Pretty much all the converters I've seen run off of regular 120 volts and have internal power supplies. I am looking for one that runs off of a 12 volt "wall wort"power supply ...one of those external AC adapters or transformers.

My idea is if I can find one, to just make a cord for it that replaces the AC adapter, and plugs the converter box directly into the 12 volt system in my TT, or for when the electricity goes out, I can use it to watch TV off of a battery.

Yes there are several:

Airlink101 ATVC101
Artec T3A
Artec T3A Pro
Artec T3AP*
Artec T3AP Pro*
Kingbox K8V1
Kingbox K8V8
Tatung TDB3000
Tatung TDB3001*
Zentech DF2000
Zentech EZTV DF2000L*

Models with an "*" also have analog pass-through.

These all use the "wall wart" to convert 120vac to 12v. There are others that also use the wall warts to convert to 5vdc or 6vdc sp those would require some additional engineering.

Some of these may no longer be in production. No promises on how easy they'd be to find.
