You don't realize how much a television sucks your brains out until you don't have one. If you think about it for a second, you'll realize that the stuff on them isn't really that interesting either. I gave mine away the day I bought the RV and went fulltime. That was over a year and a half ago and I haven't missed it in the least. I don't see myself ever having one again. They're a BORING waste of time.
My computer will play DVD's however I've found that I can only handle about 10 minutes of a show no matter how interesting before I get bored with sitting there doing nothing. I'd rather be out hiking, stargazing, building snowmen around the RV, putting a puzzle together, reading a book under the awning, dumping and backflushing my tanks in freezing rain without a jacket, etc.

We haven't owned a TV in years and got rid of the 2 that came with our 5th wheel. We bought doors that matched the cabinets from Home Depot and there by added some much needed storage space.

OP here,
Great responses here.
I agree there isn't a correct answer to this, To each his/her own is the way it should be. Half the time when I wake up in the morning the kids are already outside doing something, by the end of the day they are falling asleep in various and sundry places, found the seven year old asleep on top of the spare one time! Never a problem getting them to sleep, Then Momma and I can have a toddy, pull out the guitar and mandolin for awhile, or just sit by the fire and talk.
What a great life!

We didn't have one in our first RV - the new one came with it already installed. Yes, we watch it - but we didn't really miss it on our first RV. We read and played games instead - not all bad!
Instead of a TV you could play movies on your computer?
My suggestion - try it for a while and see how you fare without the TV - you can always put one in later. Perhaps an under the counter "flip-up" model?

Have one TV over cab and a dish on roof. Don't use the dish we don't have a dish account. We will use the antenna once in a while if it gets a station. We will plug into cable if available at Resort. Most of the time we are out in the boonies and enjoying the area so we don't miss it. If we inside for weather issues we usually play a game or play cards.

I don't have one in the TT and have no interest in getting one. I prefer to be outside during the day or near the bonfire at night.
If it rains, I'll sit under the awning a read a book. If the weather gets too bad, I'll sit inside and read or take a drive or whatever.

The two of us both work full time and are nightowls. Watching a DVD movie at night or Leno or Letterman, is just part of our routine. She is also a College sports fan and I like NHRA, so we like to keep up on those. We use a satellite dish when necessary.
But we also bring along an accustic guitar or two for a little music around the fire. One of our travelling companions is a songwriter.

We have had 3 campers...none have a TV. Don't watch much at home, sure don't want to watch it in the woods.
We have been with a friend of a friend that have a 5er, they have 3 TV's; we hardly saw them all weekend?!
To each his own, we sure don't need one or want one.

We have a 13-inch portable with a built-in VCR player and will sometimes watch a movie, but we don't even have an antenna on our camper. I'm sure when we go full-timing that we'll want one, but for weekends and vacations, I'm happy without the TV.
One of my best summers ever was when we moved into a new subdivision that didn't have cable or phone available yet. (We had the first home on the block.) I did more camping, fishing, golfing and various activities that summer than any I can remember.

Yes, we have a cheapy anolog tv that will probably get chucked after the first of the year. DW is a news junkie, and I like to take a DVD along for evenings when my arthritis is acting up too much to set out by a fire, or if it's raining. At the risk of a threadjack, I wonder more about those who take their laptops along. One of the reasons I camp is to get away from this thing, not pack it with me.
