Newbie here and yes, I did read the manual and couldn't find the answer to these two questions. 1. When I plug in the house power to the rig, I hear a "Popping" sound from the area of the inverter. 2. When (if ever) should I turn off the switch on the inverter? The rig is a 1999 Harney Motor Coach Renegade, the inverter is a Interface Freedom 10. Thanks for any input.

mmadhatter, the popping sound is very likely the transfer panel selecting the house power, as opposed to selecting your generator.
If your Harney is wired like my (former) HR was wired, you must turn off the inverter (at the inverter) at all times. You may turn the inverter on from within your coach, and not at the inverter. This should only be done when the batteries are charged.
Always make sure the inverter is not turned on when you store the vehicle. It will run down the batteries and as soon as you turn anything on, it will not invert (low batteries) and will start to let the smoke out of appliances. Ask me how I know.
