Is it too early to contact a specific campground to see if I can get on for the winter of 2009? Plan to contact them direct. Looking to work Jan, Feb and March of 2010 and maybe Dec. 2009.

Thanks

Just my opinion, but I would think that question would be best answered by the individual campgrounds you're interested in. Unless you're willing to divulge the name of the specific campground so that perhaps someone with past experience there could guide you, I can't imagine that anyone here would be able to tell you anything different than to just try contacting the campground itself.

Good luck.

Most of them are hiring right now for next season. The only problem I can see is that most of them want people there by Nov. 1 or before. But the sooner you get started, the better shot you have. You could probably improve the possibilities by being willing to start just before Thanksgiving as that is when the big rush of arrivals begins at most snowbird parks.

I think 20-22 months early is probably to early for most campgrounds or volunteer postions. It is not to early to make some form of contact and perhaps "check in" every 5-6 months. Good luck.

I know the standard answer you'll get is "never too early". However, do you really want to committ that far in advance and is there any reason to. Lot's of things can change; such as, your health, fuel prices, a better opportunity coming along and the economic status of the place you plan to work. I figure that the less time between my committment and the start date, the lower the chances that I will have to cancel out for some reason. I think that mid-summer to fall would be better.

Jayco: brings up a few good points. My reasoning is that I am familiar with the campground and the area. want to be someplace that is warm.
just trying to make sure I can find a place.
thanks for all of the information.

Are you thinking of Jan. 2009, or of the fall of 2009? That makes a big difference as to the timing.

Thinking of starting in Nov or Dec. of 09 and working through March of 2010.

Have sent a couple of e-mails to addresses related to this campground but have had no response. Thank you for all of the information.

do not mind mentioning the name of campgrounds, but at this point do not know the names of them. I would like to work with around the Savannah, Ga area or the Northern Florida area for the winter of 2009.
