OK, I give up. I have no idea what you are talking about, I guess I got in on the tail end of something. What was the original question????

Hmmm. If you open both ends of the box you can pass things thru. I think I missed something also.
You mean a pass thru on a Class A storage compartment?

I just bought one from Best Buy (Insignia) and it works okay. They had plenty of them. Others have bought them at Walmart and Radio shack. Magnavox and RCA are sold at these places.

He mean's analog pass thru. The ability of the digital converter box to let an analog antenna or cable source be passed thru to the TV when the converter is off....

So far they are hard to find and on the Govt list that came with the coupon ( card) only a few will do it. use the work around Wa8yxm offers above. Of course when analog is gone next Feb the feature will be less important

Analog is not going to be "gone" next February, just greatly reduced. For low power stations, and in smaller markets (such as the areas a lot of us go RV'ing), analog will live on for a while yet-- which is why the analog passthrough is a desirable feature, particularly for RV's.
For instance, today, if you want to watch the NBC station (KPNX) in Phoenix, you tune in to channel 12. After next February, that programming will be only available to the Phoenix area via a digital signal.
However, if you want to watch that same station in Prescott today, you don't tune in to channel 12-- you tune to channel 6, where you'll see the same KPNX programming (but broadcast over K06AE). K06AE ain't going digital next year-- so if you want to watch it after February, you can continue to watch it on your old TV set.
But, if you have an RV with an analog TV and want to be able to watch KPNX while in Phoenix, but channel 6 while in Prescott-- you'll need analog passthrough, or a suitable workaround.

can't you just bypass the thing with two AB switches and a short length of RG 59?
or actually one AB switch and one splitter?
or just use some quick connects and take out of circuit if necessary?

Why am I not surprised that the converter boxes are not available?
Let's see I can stock the converter and sell you one for $50 and have the coupon hassle -
OR Let me think this through - Aaah I could not stock them and sell you a new TV!
Wonder what I should do???
I'm the suspicious type. And don't get me started on how well this is orchestrated by the beltway. Wasn't the conversion suppose to be completed by 2005?
