Wanna save gas? slow down, drive less, upgrade the engine to a newer more efficient one. Or simply bite the bullet and pay at the pump. Replace the flooring with linoleum or pergo and enjoy.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Painting the sub flooring is going to look like sh@t.
Laminate will weigh maybe 50 lbs. and look great.
Worried about extra weight? Why don't you loose about 50 ;bs. each. If you are like me, you can loose that much easy!

Mine is composite, paint would look terrible, rough to start and soon wear on the high particles. But if you tear the carpet up to install new flooring good marine paint would make a good seal in case of leaks.
I agree with the posts about loosing such a small amount of the total weight to increase mileage. Your results will be noisier, not look that great, and you won't get any better mileage.

Hi,
I replaced the carpet in my Moto last year. I weighted everything I took out and weighted everything I put in. Difference was 65lbs heavyer. I removed the booth added two chairs and made a bigger table.
I used Prego for the floor. It will weigh 29lbs per box and I used 10 boxes. I also made my own trim from oak.
So 65lbs will not make any difference. Slowing down will get you the most milage. Try 60m/hr and see. I did this for the last 3800 miles and gained almost 2m/gal and I still got to where I was going. Over 300 miles a day 5m/hr won't make much difference except in fuel.
Good luck

Only paint the floor if you plan on throw woodchip or peanut shell over the top to hide it or you can black out the windows, so in low lights you won't be able to tell,if you don't plan on doing either, I would put the carpet back.

If you are not concerned with resale do what makes you happy, but I for one would never buy a rig with painted plywood floors unless it said U haul on the side.

Thanks for the input. I think you all are right. The only thing we can't do is lose 50lbs. Neither of us are heavy. We do drive very slow. I used to get on my honie's case for driving so slow, but not since we got the RV. He drives about 55 on the highway car or RV. Thanks for all the input.
We did take out the queen bed and put in a nice king foam bed. The mattress that was there was like a rock. We also took out the huge old tv's and got a flat panel. I'm thinking of also taking out one of the dining benches and the little table or extending the table and using a dining chair on one side.

Take a look at the new floating cork floors. You can easily lay it yourself and it is realitively light weight. We used it in a total airstrem restore project and were extremely pleased.

Sounds like a "Redneck RV" to me. I also noticed someone used Prego flooring on their MH. If you type in Prego instead of Pergo on Google you will not get the desired flooring products. Maybe with a wide roller you can also paint the outside of the RV and get some nice graphics in the process. After taking out the floor in my previous RV I know what kind of flooring they use and there is no way anyone would be happy with that painted.

My main concern with a bare floor would be noise.
