I went to check out our trailer after a long winter of storage. I noticed some minor sidewall cracking on one of the tires. I think they may need to be replaced. Just looking for tire recommendations, and potential cost. I've found prices for Carlisle tires, but my understanding is that they not that good a tire. The trailer currently has Goodyear tires. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How old are your current tires? See code after DOT # should read something like this 21/04, which means the tires were made in the 21 week of 2004.

Many say change tires after 4 years no matter how good they look.
If you have side wall cracking, I would change them as RV TT tires are loaded at about 80% of there max load capacity all the time.

If you have Goodyear Marathon tires and chose to replace the current tires with another set of Goodyear Marathons, note that the new ones are made in China, if that matters to you.

I have been pleased with my Goodyear Marathons, but did not realize the new set was made in China until one on the guys on this forum pointed that out.

Made in China means very little to most of us, guess thats why we are so in debt to them.
It does to me and I try to buy US made, if possible, just screwed up on the RV tires.

Have a good day and be safe.

Maxxis are not made in China.

You did not say what SIZE tires, nor Load Range.

The Maxiis tires I just took off were made in China,no problems with them. I replaced them with Maxiis, made in Thailand, hopefully they will be good too.

We replaced original Goodyears (USA) with Greenball Transmasters. Had one trip in the fall, then TT sat in storage. Only a few pounds of air leaked over 5 mths or so. They have a good looking tread & were bought at Discount Tire. We spent a lot of time researching & it was very disappointing that we could not get Goodyr made in USA. Really wanted a Michelin but they only make larger sizes. Even the tire salesmen were surprised they could not locate USA products!
Almost got the Maxxis; didn't due to local dealer reputations.

You could also run a set of BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A LT tires in 8 ply rated. LT tires supposedly hold up better at highway speeds, esp if you like 'put the hammer down' when you can.

Greenball Towmasters seem to be a good tire. Very few complaints here or anywhere else.

I had emailed the manufacturer and found that the Cooper Custom Trailer Plus is made in America. They are ST type tires. Like all brand tires for trailers discussed on this forum there is mixed reviews of the Coopers. That's what so frustrating abt tires- a certain brand gets praises from a few folks, then you get some negative comments to contrast. Seems to be you roll the dice and take your chances on all of them.

If there is any way you can use LT tires do so. You can get Michelin LT load range C as small as 15 inch.
