First I own a 30' Hy-Line TT. They make TTs and 5th Wheels in addition to park models. A close look would reveal that they use very big beams and supports in all their units. I've not seen any that were larger. As far as the frig cooling down when traveling I don't think that would be a big problem. I traveled quite a bit with mine before I realized the fuse for the 12v line to the frig was blown. The food in the freezer never melted. The stuff in the frig stayed cold. It works fine now. I also noted that any movement of stuff in mine seems to be when I brake. So if you control the forward motion of your frig. well enough it probable won't even try to move. I always wondered if Hy-line would sell a park model as a TT. Now I know. You have a great unit and I'm going to Bates tomarrow to see what I can do.

Mike, that's great, except fulltimedale has a residential fridge, which means no 12v line and no cooling unless connected to 120V. Sounds like HyLine is a great company to work with and buy from. Better than Fleetwood that's for sure....

Actually HyLine is slow to respond to emails and seems to evade helping on the phone. They make a good product but as a little company they are still trying to improve customer service. I like that you can have an clean palet to design on and they will make it, to a large extent as you wish. Hard to find a dealer but worth it.

I realize that the OP frig is a 120V only type. I'm just saying that it takes hours to lose the cold and usually one is back on 120V before any problems. Years ago I replaced a worn out 2-way with a 120V and had no problems as most trips were 3 hrs or so. The beer stayed cold.

If warming is a concern on long trips, just go back to basics and toss in a block of "ice", after all home refrigeration did start with the ice box.

Agreed, in normal travels the fridge will stay cold for a day. What caught my eye was that fulltimedale said they would stay in one place for a few months and then move, making me think there might be multiple days on the road between stops. Maybe bad assumption on my part, but just wanted to point it out as a possible point of concern.

As you say, as long as the beer stays cold....

Point is that just adding holding tanks to a park model doesn't make it a travel trailer, regardless of how it's titled. Fulltimedale will no doubt have much fun with his RV, but was trying to help him think through some things he may not have thought of yet.
