Hi Folks,
I thought it might be entertaining to hear some of the stupidest things you’ve done while RVing. Cmon we all are guilty. Ill start off.
After a very long winter last year in Canada we were finally able to get the then TT out for the May long weekend. We pulled into the campground and got all setup inside and out. I fired up the BBQ and went in the TT to prepare the steaks.
I guess I was way to excited as I did the Ben Johnson bolt down the steps with a can of beer in each hand. With great speed I whipped around the corner, vaulted over the dog, over the cooler and was about 3 steps closer to my beckoning camp chair when to my horror, my right foot (the one being used at that moment for propulsion) stepped on a round stick that my kid was playing with earlier. I spun out launching myself into the Coleman and about 3 quarters of the way over the portable camp table cracking my knees on the propane tank in the process.
When my eyes began to refocus, I found myself in a twisted pile of camping gear with my wife looking down at me shaking her head with cell in hand ready to dial the last #1 in 911.
Fortunately the camp gear was ok and I escaped with only minor injuries.
Any others

Drove off with the trailer door open and found our pots and pans a block down the road after another camper waved me down. I thought he was drunk. I did had the doors locked in first place but with kids screaming and need to use the bathroom one more time and dog getting into a fight with another dog I failed to do the final check. Sheeess I need aother beer…
Why I am in charge of this mad house. Not sure!!!

While traveling through Utah on I-15, we heard, on the radio, of a big traffic jam so I jumped off the next exit. We drove through Salt Lake City to avoid the traffic, only to remember we were listening to a Nashville,Tennessee radio station on our satellite radio.
Please don't tell too many folks, my wife still kids me about it.

LOL, I hear ya with the kids screaming and having to go to the bathroom thing. Funny how kids can play for hours with out ever having to go, but when your in a hurry or on the road they seemed to have to go every 2 seconds.

Stinky slinky with an not overly secure connection at the RV. You only do that once with the black tank.
I was under the back of the RV. I carefully backed out making sure I wouldn't hit my head on the hitch receiver. Then stood up into the spare tire.
Probably not overly stupid but amusing nonetheless:
16 hours of solo driving in one day. Got out of the pilot seat, walked to the entry door. Went out. Came back in. Stepped out again onto the step...that wasn't there because I hadn't put it out in the first place. Thud.
We were filling a friends fresh water tank just before she departed in 20F weather. For some reason she started pulling the hose out without turning the water off first. I got as far as "What are you doi" before the end of the hose cleared the RV.
Last week: Winter of snow and the day after lots of rain. It was time to roll the awning out for the first time since November. I know better. Just for the record, a rolled up awning can hold roughly half the Atlantic Ocean. Drip drip...

Drove into an unkown area with our 5th wheel.
The single lane gravel road came to an end 2 miles further with no area to turn around.
Backing out took awhile and taught me a good lesson.

One of the first trips out I pulled in nice and square checked for level, got out the blocks, layed them out just perfect and backed the trailer onto them. Nice and level side to side, now put the legs down and unhitched from the truck, adjusted the legs to get level front to rear...ok, nice and level then around back to put down the stabilizer's, ok go inside and put out the slides (three of them)...alright, we're doing good here. Let's see let's put those two awnings out, yeah, now were cookin' ! Ok, what's next? (by now I'm thinking there is nothing to this. I've graduated from nube class!) Oh, yeah, the sewer and water hookups, well that can't be too hard. WHO PUT THEM ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE TRAILER!! ARGHHHH!! Ok, pull everything down and turn around. I laugh at it now...but felt really stupid then. RV'ing is great though and I finally seasoned a bit, do things in order now. It's really a great life even when I work at it so hard. Ha!

I think this did not happen while camping, but at the owner's home.
It was posted yesterday in the Truck Camper's section.
