We will be traveling through Indiana in mid June so we thought we should stop for a few days and take some factory tours. We are LOOKING for a new mid-profile 5th wheel and we haven't chosen one yet.

We are thinking about touring the factories for Jayco, Sundance, and Cougar. Are there any others that would benefit us to see? Has anyone toured these three plants? If so, was it worth your time?

Thanks,
Don

I think that Cougar is manufactured in Oregon, but not completely sure.
Our Everest was built back there in Indiana, I believe. You might want to check them out. Montana would be another one too.

I've been on a tour at Jayco and K-Z and highly recommend both .... they are both located within a few minutes of each other near Middlebury .... recommend you check their web site and call for an appointment

Mid profile? Try the Crossroads Cruiser, too. Our Sunnybrook/Carriage dealer that we love (Traffords RV, NH) had to replace Artic Fox/Nash because Northwood shut their East Coast plant. They decided on the Kingston/Cruiser line and they have their 1st shipment a month ago. I have walked the Cruiser's a few times now and for the price I like the trailer they build. I think they put just enough "fluff" to make the trailer livable but the structure/hung wall/gel coated exterior and such make a nice trailer.

If I were in the market they would be on my short list.

You will probably find that you can only do a tour a day. That is due to the time a tour is allowed which is in the afternoon when everyone goes home. If you do the Jayco tour you MUST do the Sunnybrook tour. You will notice a difference. You should also check out (gonna spell it wrong) the Shipsuwana flea market (can't change screens but could be another name, not a flea market) You will enjoy the fresh veggies.

Not necessarily, we are going on a Jayco tour next Friday at noon. Last year we toured Heartland on a Friday afternoon with a full working crew.

Every factory is different, some do regular once a day or once a week tours, others will schedule anytime with advance notice, some will take you through whenever..

Carriage tours were during production hours when we toured the factory. I was amazed to actually be able to walk inside nearly completed units and watch/chat with workers cleaning and doing quality checks. They also took us through a couple concept floorplan units being readied for a show and asked us for our off the cuff opinion's and thoughts. Really a cool tour!!!
