Have just finished the South Carolina part of our spring trip and want to say how much we enjoyed our time in this fair state. We had seen Charleston before, but Columbia, Greenville and the Upstate area were all new to us...and we loved it. The state parks we stayed at were lovely (if a little tight) and the back roads were very scenic. Found lots of waterfalls and have never seen so many dogwoods scattered through the woods. It was a wonderful experience, all things considered.
Thanks, too, for the good information I got here about roads and campgrounds.
Seriously, SC is a beautiful state that has something for everyone. You can be in the mountains in the morning and on the beach by the afternoon; some nice sized cities and some beautiful rural areas all very close. Come back when you can.
We are looking forward to going to parts of your fair state that don't involve just theme parks. I want to make it to the Keys one day.
You're right, SC does know how to do campgrounds in their state parks. Agree some of them are a bit tight, particularly for the big rigs, but most are well thought out, clean and beautiful. Honestly, since moving to Myrtle Beach, the state parks are the most impressive thing about the state, IMHO.
Two young retirees restless to GO!
Life is too short to wait too long to do all we want to do!!
Go and enjoy!!
Thanks for the compliment. I am very proud to live in this fine state. Our state parks are wonderful IMO. Glad you were able to visit and please come again, ya hear!!
SC has alot to offer..from the beaches to mountains. The upstate is my favorite area. Just spent 3 weeks in the area and had a wonderful time. And, I agree, the dogwoods (white & pink) were beautiful.
