we like to stay 3 to 5 months, depending on job and location.

We usually workamp for the summer, mid May - early Sept., and winter, Dec. - mid March. That way we really get to know the areas and get to be gypsies for the spring and fall.

We like to spend 6 -8 weeks max, but have on occasion stayed an entire summer, depending on the job.

We work late April-mid Sept, then two... 3 month stints with travel in between.
3-5 months is the norm for us.

A great deal of the answer to this depends upon the kind of work-camping you happen to be doing. Most paid positions are seasonal with specific terms as a part of the job. If you work in an RV park or similar facility, it is the norm for the employer to pay some rate that includes a significant bonus at the end of the season for those who stay the entire period. That can vary depending upon the location, but it will usually be 4 to 5 months in term. The amusement parks tend to look for employees who will stay the entire season.
There are also short season positions such as sugar beet harvest, Christmas tree/pumpkin lot sales, and mall shops like Hickory Farms and See's Candy who have six week or so contracts.
If you are doing the volunteer type of positions, working at parks or lakes, historic sites and such, then the length of stay is usually based upon a minimum set by that agency and there is usually an upper limit as well. Most state parks ask for a one month minimum stay and limit to a maximum of about six months. Federal agencies usually ask for a minimum of three months. In both cases there are also some who ask for all season and some who ask for less than most.
We do only volunteer for site positions with public organizations that we believe in and support and we usually stay from one to three months. We do not accept any positions that require longer than four months.

With one terrible exception, all of our workamping is volunteer at public facilities (state and fed), and thanks to the rising cost of fuel, we are now staying five or six months at most of our "jobs," up from the original plan of no more than three. And, being full timers, we are taking less of a break between jobs...

Yes we are doing the same, I'm doing 20 hrs a week workcamping and the wife is working up town 40 hrs a week. For at leat 6 months or more. Then not much moving around after the that!

We usually stay 6-7 months but only work one job per year. If summer we take winter off and if winter we take summer off. With the price of fuel, we may start working both seasons.
