Jumping into a generator. Have a 4 day trip with no hookups and been thinking about getting one anyway.
Looking at the Honda eu2000i or the Yamaha equivalent (2400 I think?). Prefer the Honda due to weight of the actual generator and ability to go parallel.
Who carries these at the best price? stick store OR online is fine. In Southern California.

Camping World has the best price from what i have seen on the honda.
But you need to buy the membership which is 20 dollars but i have found it worth the price. At least for me anyway. Never priced out the yamaha though.
I bought the McCulloch 1800W FDD210MO for 459 at Costco, it is a little louder but still can have a conversation with it at you feet.

Definitely buy from WiseSales. I have bought 3 Honda 2000's from them. Price has been $870 including freight. Service has been outstanding. Many on this forum have bought from them and have recommended them.

Online with Mayberrys or Wise. You'll probably have to call for a price. Both have been mentioned on this forum as low price leaders with good service.

Wise Sales.
I paid $869 shipped to my door. That translates to about $800 before tax if you buy from a local shop. I have a good relationship with my local Honda/Yamaha dealer and I bought my first EU2000 from them. But, they wouldn't even come close to matching Wise Sales' price. So, my money went elsewhere. I also bought an extended run gas tank from Wise. Their customer service is top notch. And I'm very happy with the twins.

there are more threads on generators than probably any other subject.
take some time and do a search. do you want to run the a/c? if so, a honda 2000 may not run it. a yamaha 2400 might. it depends on what you want to use the generator for. if just for charging the batteries and running the microwave, then a honda 2000 will be fine. and you can always get a second to parallel if you need the a/c.
camping world is too expensive. the two places previously suggested have a lot of happy customers. there are also other web dealers listed in honda/yamaha generator threads. i don't know of any stick store that even comes close to Wise and Mayberry's.

I second Wise or Mayberrys.
I like the two Hondas to run an A/C with. If it's cool during the season, then I only need to bring one Honda because I won't be running the A/C. The Honda is definately lighter and easier to manuever than the Yamaha 2400 series generator.

Camping World with best prices? Get real!
Mayberrys is certainly my choice. It's a family-run business in New Jersey and you won't find nicer people to do business with.

Bought mine through Wise Sales after reading the many positive feedbacks on this forum.
The Yamaha EF2400iS can be paralleled just like the Honda 2KW. Couldn't tell by your post whether or not you were aware of this. I've not found it necessary as my 1 generator easily runs my A/C.
Things to consider:
1. Two Honda 2KW generators, plus a parallel kit, are usually required to reliably run a 13,500 A/C.
2. The two 2KW Honda setup is about $2000
3. A single Yamaha EF2400iS usually runs a 13,500 BTU A/C easily.
4. I paid $1047 for my Yamaha after a factory rebate. About 1/2 the cost of the Honda setup.
5. A Honda 2KW weighs 50 lbs. A Yamaha 2.4KW weighs 70 lbs. But since you need two Hondas, you'll lift 50 lbs twice. Total weight in the truck is 100 lbs, instead of 70 lbs.
NOTHING wrong with the Honda setup. Only that it's a more expensive option. For some, it's a better setup.
Here's the testing I've done with the Yamaha: Link.

Don't forget Alamia.
Alamia
I'd call Alamia, Wise, and Mayberry and get the best price. I don't know about the others but Alamia didn't charge shipping and the price was as cheap as I could find 1 1/2 year ago.
