I would disagree with this statement. Have you ever seen the cut that a tractor trailer can make? A tractor (or MDT) can turn the front wheels another 15 - 20 degrees sharper than any light duty pick on the road. Have you ever watched how far a truck can go into an intersection before turning the wheel and still make the turn? If you've ever driven an MDT or HDT, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.
I'm no professional driver, but I'll take the cut of an MDT any day over the cut of a light duty pick up. Too bad I can't afford an MDT or HDT .

I've driven tractor trailers for 15 years, and RV'd for 20. I can tell you from first hand experience that even my current RV rig (which is nearly 60 feet long) is drastically more maneuverable then a class 8 highway tractor with a 53' trailer.
Remember - TT's have their wheels in the middle of the trailer - if you look at commercial equipment you'll see that the wheels are at (or near) the end of the trailer.
Wheels 15' behind the hitch beats wheels 45' behind the kingpin any day.
We had a TT before the fifth wheel. We went to the fifth wheel because of the added storage in the basement. I have found that the fifth wheel is easier to tow, and a lot more stable. At this time I would not go back to a TT

We have the same problem here...wife can't do steps very well, so the extra steps up to the bedroom wont work for us. I have never had a problem pulling a trailer, so when we need a new one that's what it will be only longer than our 27 ft. trailer.

Absolutely agree! Also, having previously owned a tt, prefer towing the 5ver.
