Any tips for narrowing the search for specific destinations? We are looking for a campground within reasonable distance of Alexandria, VA for the end of May.

Any websites out there that can list campgrounds within a prescribed proximity to destination? Once I locate a CG within proximity (say 30 miles), I can figure out the other stuff.

Any help is appreciated. Pretty new to this and the TL Directory is very helpful if you already know the destination.

We spent several days at Pohick Bay in Lorton, VA. It is very heavily wooded so that the campsite seemed dark all the time. The campsites were mostly wood chips, and most were fairly level. We spent very little time there, as we were touring the DC area.

The location was excellent and the price was reasonable. I think this one may be closest to Alexandria. There was a real nice grocery store a block away (ask the staff for directions, as you need to make some turns to get there). One night we stopped by the store, and got our dinner at their salad bar.
