On our first trip, I tried out several features of the new TT, even though we did not really need them.

When I filled the fresh water tank and started the pump, it was really loud! (Of course the DW was resting in the TT at the time!) Is this normal? My pump appears to be mounted to the floor inside one of the kitchen base cabinets, and it just seems to vibrate everything. Can anything be done to make it quieter?

I don't think we will use it very often, but just wondering if the noise is normal.

It is easy to insulate the water pump from loud vibration by using foam and transparent flex tubing. If you go to "search" and look for "Water pump problems" or related subject matter, you should be able to find some specifics as to how to deal with this problem.

Common problem. If it is hard plumbed, try installing a section of flexible water line instead. Next step is to put some isolation between the pump and floor.

The water pump is very loud. There are insulating tricks that you can do.

No they shouldn't be BUT they ALL are ...

Look at the photos below and add any or all of the modifications - each one will make your pump a little quieter... Mods consist of:

Noise isolating mount

Flexible input/output lines

Accumulator tank (the bigger the better)

Foam pipe insulation over rigid runs of waterline that are in contact with the floor, walls, etc... The last picture is not quite representative of this but gives you the general idea... I insulated this run of water line as it was transmitting a little vibration... I also use this method where water lines penetrate the floor at the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, etc... My pump is so quiet I cannot hear it run unless I am standing right by it...

Try sliding an old mouse pad in between the pump and the floor. Worked for me(quick easy and cheap.)

do you unscrew the pump, then put mouse pad in, then rescrew the pump to the floor - or just slide it underneath?

Mine was loud too. I noticed that a stiff hose, coming from the pump, was touching the wall, banging like a drum when it ran. I replaced the hose with a softer one and put a curve in it and also kept it from touching the wall. This helped.

Les, When you drain your water tank at the end of each trip, is there an additional step because of the holding tank you added? Or is it just the same as if it weren't there? Does it just take longer?

That was where my noise was coming from and it sounded like some one hitting the floor with a hammer, but it was from the PEX tubing banging around. I put a little foam under the first fitting where the vinyl discharge mated to the PEX tubing and then secure the PEX tubing to the floor with one of the electrical conduit clamps about 2 inches past the foam and 90% of all my noise was gone. I also made sure the vinyl tubing wasn't allowed to rest against anything. Now it's actually too quiet and I can't hear it cycle in case I have a leak somewhere.
