I am on an extensive trip and presently sitting 70 miles South of DC at Flying J. Can anyone recommend a reputable tire dealer in the DC area where I can get a front end alignment and 2 new tires? I will be at Cherry Hill for a week so have time to setup appointment. Seems my front tires are wearing on the side of the tread on the outsides so I am thinking alignment problems? Plenty of meat in the middle as I only have 26K on these-rears look good. Any opinons welcome as I am not sure how far i want to trust these puppies beyond Dc-will also be in PA for a week before going to Liberty Harbor in NYC if anyone can help in that area.Thanks.

Tell us what chassis you have and what size/brand/age tires.

If you are traveling in the Allentown, Pa., area, help can be found. There are tire shops available and there is a very good alignment/spring/frame shop in Allentown. There are also one or two good campgrounds available a few miles away. If you need something while in the area, let us know.

Planning on staying at the Allentown KOA, born and raised in Easton area (8 years) and will be checking out the old area. Any references will be appreciated, not sure I can wait until then but it isn't to far from DC and would rather deal with someone that comes recommended. If there is a better campground then the KOA I would also like that info.Tanks.

In Frederick MD there is Donald P. Rice tire right off 70 who does front end alignments and sells the tire you need. I would call them before ou go as I had to order the tires before I went (I needed 6 of them). The Front end guy there is proably one of the best in the state.

A large tire dealer on I 95 just south of D C is Albans, 703 455-9300, and they will either do alignments or refer you to a place that does them. If you are traveling I 66 Patriot, 703 753 7002, it a little west of Washington DC. They will do alignments but not tires.

Are you sure your tires are not underinflated? The edges will wear out faster if they are as little as five pounds low.

If you make it up to Allentown on your current tires give Dave's Auto and Tire Center a call (in Souderton, PA off rte 309) at 215-721-7911. I'm heading there today for 16" Michelins for the rear. Had the fronts done a year ago. Honest and the prices are fair. I use him to inspect the MH and feel better after he looks at it.

Good luck,
Bob

Unless all the tread is gone on the edges, why do you need more than an alignment?
