I make a point of using the button inside on the door just so the horn doesn't beep in the CG. (at night, esp.)

Just don't use it to UNLOCK the doors

My truck and car both beep only on the second press, which I never do in a campground. When I unlock the truck, the headlights come on, which aggravates me because they are usually pointed right at someone's trailer. I wish I could disable that feature.

Wow! Lots of comments on theis topic.
Mine beeps on the second push of the remote. I only use that if I'm a distance from my truck and can't remember if I locked it or not ( CRS syndrome ) As for those that say they need it to confirm it's locked after they push the button I say "why?" I can hear my power locks activate and would much rather hear that than the annoying "BEEP"
Suprisingly what no one has mentioned are the people that arm their alarm and then open the door when they return setting off the alarm. I feel like screaming "you idiot! did you forget you had an alarm?"
When camping my truck usually stays unlocked until I go to bed.

Hmm.... mine beeps with one push of the remote... I guess I figure its "welcome to 2008!" Most cars are going to be equipped with power locks...if you need complete silence to enjoy your trip.. then maybe camping in a crowded campground is not the place for you. I will always try my best to not be annoying while camping.. but lets face it.. you are in a place where lots of people are doing their thing!

Ditto for me. The only option is to use the key to manually unlock the truck. Funny thing is the last time I did that (remote battery was dead) I set off the alarm!

I understand if you don't lock your vehicle with the remote it does not set the alarm.

Hi: You can't distribute manners as if they are some kind of product. People either have them or they don't and campgrounds are a place you find that out in a hurry. Bill

When we had our remote start installed I had them disable the horn and not install the beeper. At times I can see the advantage but I prefer not to listen to it.

I don't know how it does it, but my Infiniti just blinks it's headlights when I push the remote lock button, no beep. It will also roll down my windows if I hold the unlock button down. Really nice when it's hot out to get that blast of hot air out before I get into the car.
