While traveling from Omaha, NE, to Overland Park, KS, and back on I-29 the past two days, I made a nice observation: most semi trucks were going 65 mph or less! I was driving my Honda Civic at the posted 70 mph speed limit. Typically they have gone whipping by me at 75+ mph. Have any of you noticed this on other Interstate highways? I'm sure they are attempting to conserve fuel with $4+/gal. costs.

It makes me feel a bit more comfortable when considering our upcoming summer RV vacation plans, as when going 60 mph with the TT in tow, I always felt I was a significant impediment to traffic flow, including the 18 wheelers.

Happy camping!

I saw on our local new station that a lot of the trucking companies are setting the governors at 65 to save fuel but the people that own their own trucks it up to them what speed they drive.

Yes, many are resetting the governor to 65 mph or even less.

I set my foot at 65- after I found at 70 + I got 10 miles to the gallon and 65 - I got 12.5 to 13.3

3 weeks ago, towing the trailer on 500+ mile trip I set the CC at 60 mph, what was 62 mph per GPS.
I remember passing 4 semis and can only guess how many passed me.
The speed limit for truck here is 55.
Than I've seen semis going 100 in the past on more than one occasion.

Yes, here in FL I have noticed many of the big rigs driving the 63-65mph. Better for everyone. I have slowed down to 62-63 in the motor home. Using noticeably less gas than when I would push 70+/-.

Do you remember the day when gas went up to the awful $0.79 per gallon and the government set the speed limit to 55mph?

Remember, these will one day be the good old days. Enjoy life!

I just drove from Tampa area to Toronto and found no evidence of 18 wheelers slowing down on I-75. Flew past me as always. I cruise about 63 to 65 mph.

We drove up from Orlando to N. Carolina & the trucks were "blowing our doors off" on I85! DH sets it at 65mph. I was noticing that most of the flatbeds we saw were traveling with less then 1/2 a load or empty. DH says they are most likely 'local' truckers coming back from deliveries, but there sure seemed to be a lot.
