Hi Folks ,I have an 87 HR which has a lot of wood in it .Being in Colorado with such a dry climate ,I have noticed the wood drying out . I have started to use old english lemon oil to try and get some moisture back into the wood . Does anyone have a favourite they would recommend . Thanks .. Rod

Try and find some plan rubbing oil for wood. You should be able to find it at a quality wood workers supply store. Lemon oil and oil containing wax should not be used it clogs the pores of the wood. Boiled linseed can also be used as long as it is a superior grade.

We moved here to Wyoming about 25 years ago from Louisiana. After the first year here we noticed that some of our antiques were drying up bad. Some of them had gaps of almost 1" in places. There were a few pieces I had to dismantle and completely rebuild. The wife has been using Old English real heavy since then. Has helped out. It's just so much drier here. It took some getting use to.

Try Danish oil. its a mixture of linseed and polymers. Seals the wood and hardens the surface.
Make sure you coat all sides of the piece. For doors, remove them and literally soak them.
Wipe the excess off after 10-15 minutes.
Daughters hand made tea cart cracked because I forgot to coat the bottom.

I use Howard's Feed and Wax on all my instruments with a natural finish. I've used it on cabinetry and tables with good results too. It's hard to find, but I like it.
