Anybody ever fell (or almost) down your steps? Have you noticed that the tread on the steps are small? The steps at my house have a tread of 10 inches whereas on my fiver the tread is 8 inches. If you have a size 10 or greater shoe, you will notice that your foot tends to "roll" down the step with the narrower tread. Is there a replacement foldaway step that has a larger tread?

I had the same problem as you, plus the fact that my step did not "extend" out away from the trailer enough when I opened it. This is how I solved my problem: I bought a set of "SPA" steps, light weight, waterproof and much better tread size.

Yes, I have fallen down my steps(womens size 9 shoe.) I have even fallen "up" my steps (although in my defense, I was trying to manuever around my daughter who decided to STOP in her tracks). Luckily, we have a MH with a small ground clearance or my injuries would be worse
Those steps are looking pretty good right now though

Yes, right off the top step. Usually in a rush when the steps are wet. The carpet covers help a little but rushing and inattention are the biggest culprits.

Know someone that fell out the door and broke his leg, this year. Still recovering.
A lady we know also fell on the steps and broke both of her ankles, last year. She has recovered now

The DW took a good fall off of the top step. I picked up some fullwidth Anti-Skid strips at Lowe's. They cover the full step and have a yellow reflective stripe on them. Makes for a nice reflector when the steps are down.
But I do agree, most fold down steps are very shallow. I like the ones pictured.

I replaced my original 3 step 9"rise with a 4 step 7" rise . Still only 8" tread but much easier going up and down.

Check to see if the step unit can be moved out away from the I-beam attachment. Mine was attached to the I-beam but could be moved out with wood block spacers about 2". Was able to use some of the other mounting holes in the step frame, without drilling new ones. This gave more room on the top step for firmer footing. I guess it was easier for them to mount it directly to the frame.
