My Moho's rear axle starting leaking and I need a Seal/Gasket. My question, is workhorse part of GM ? If so I can try to get one at the chevy dealer, if not then I have go further away from home to purchase a seal. Luckily my neighbor is a retired mech, and he will do the installation.

Work Horse makes the chassis only. They install the GM engines and Allison transmissions. I'd call Work Horse first then go from there.

A list of Workhorse dealers in VA is found here

My local Chevy dealer is also a Workhorse dealer and they just did my driver side rear seal a couple months ago.

It takes a few trips for all the old oil to clear out of the wheel after the new seal is installed.

My mechanic indicated that you need to start with Workhorse and proceed from there. You may or may not be able to use a GM part to fix a problem with a Workhorse chassis. Your problem sounds like a GM seal should fix it. But engine parts are different such as the water pump, you must get a Workhorse water pump.

Workhorse replaced my passenger's rear seal last year....not with a replacement OEM seal, but with a bead of silicone...said it was better than the Workhorse seal.

Probably American Axle and you probably can get the seal/gasket from either a Chevy Truck Garage or Workhorse or NAPA.

Workhorse uses some GM parts, and some parts from other folks.. Give them a call and they can tell you where to get the part. Have your VIN handy

I sometimes tell the story of 3 calls to customer service, 3 different companies

Hughes: Call to India.. 7 hours, no joy,

Xantrex: Washington State, 15 minutes, great joy

Workhorse: Call to Troy Michigan, 1 minute, Joy

Kind of hard to beat that kind of service

(I do admit my quesiton was #1 on the FAQ list)

Without the Workhorse model number, its hard to tell for sure, but looking at the Workhorse chassis guide, it appears most of the W-series chasis use Dana S135/150 rear axles.
