We also like the layout of the Cougar 318SAB. For us (and we're looking for our 1st 5er), it is mandatory that the toilet room has a sink in it. I cannot believe that it isn't a regulation that this must be. No separate facilities for us.

We have a Crossroads Cruiser side aisle three slide the model is CF32BL. One of the deals was we could get to the bathroom with out opening any slide. It also has a rather large bathroom in it with a shower. We can close it off from the Bedroom. I guess you would call it a curb Aisle.

Our old 5er had a pass-through bathroom. It was tolorable, but if you are in the bedroom and another is using the stool, you are trapped until they finish.
Our new 5er has a curb-side hallway, over-size separate bathroom, and a master suite bedroom. We would never return to a pass-through bathroom unit. You may inspect the floorplan of our Grand Junction 35TMS, and other side hallway units.

Hmmm. Maybe I would change my mind if we ever tried a side aisle unit, but we purposely did NOT want one and bought a center aisle. We camp with just our 2 year old daughter so privacy isn't a major issue and the advantage of not having the bathroom in use by just one person at a time was a big deal for us. We considered a dedicated bathroom a negative.

One interesting trend I have noticed that has happened in the last few yrs is going to the side bath setup. These companies, as far as I can tell, have recently introduced a side bath setup in the last 2-3 yrs. Carriage, Newmar, Double Tree, Teton, KZ, Heartland. Maybe others I haven't mentioned but it is funny that back when we purchased our unit in 2005 I know these companies didn't offer any side bath floorplans. I guess there might be a trend toward this kind of floorplan. BTW we have a Citation with a curb side isle and love it. No split baths for me.

When we were shopping and saw the enclosed bathroom, the wife and daughter loved it. You can take care of all your business in one room just like at home. Our bathroom is large enough to move around in. It also blocks off the view from the living area and allows some additional cabinetry in the kitchen. We can access the bathroom &bedroom with the slides in. In some of the non-aisle rigs. The sinks were right there next to the beds. The side aisle units with the enclosed bathrooms make the units feel more upscale and cozy. Its just a prefeence I guess, but we could never go back to the old fashioned layout now.

you know I made the same claim about Newmar and motorhomes when I was looking about 10 years ago and got jumped all over for saying so.

I agree. It's what I call sleeping in the bathroom.

Lisa, in a few years when your daughter hits adolescence, it will be a BIG issue! Privacy is a must-have then!
