I have a new TT. the water pump was working, I filled the water tank up and ran water throught the system to clean out the anti freeze. I then hooked up the city water, and ran more water through the system. OK so far.

When i refilled the water tank back up to run the bleach out, the water pump just runs constantly, but no water is pumped. Someone told me to unhook the hose on the outlet side to re prime. Does this sound right, and what is the outlet side?

Thanks in advance!

Did you empty water heater tank? If so, it takes at least 6 gallons to fill.

Did you open both hot and cold faucets with pump running? Did it spit at all?

Did you check your pump intake isn't set to draw antifreeze from a bottle (if you have that option).

If you have the city water connected to a hose and the hose on the pump will run but the water is taken through the hose and city water connection. Also, the valve has to be in the correct position to pump water from the water pump.

If your unit is new it's possible the pump picked a piece of plastic not cleaned out when they cut the holes in the tank. When I had that problem, taking the pump apart and cleaning out the little piece fixed it.....

My pump is hard to prime sometimes too- it gets an air block in it and like you say- runs, but dosn't pump....

I don't have the procedure figured out EXACTLY, but running some water through the hose connection (and turning it on and off a time or two), and opening lots of faucets seems to clear the air and get the pump kicked in....

I ahd this problem when dewinterizing. Unscrew the pipe from the tank and then re attach it. Then it will work.

so you have to turn off the valve to the water pump to use the city water connection?

I suspect Tand has one of those winterizer kits where you can turn a valve, and suck anti-freeze directly from a jug...

But I suspect the original poster has a simple "vapor lock".
