gitane59, you are so right. More power to you for having invested in oil stocks / shares, but the ridiculousness of the current state of affairs should have everybody wondering - WHY???

As for the Global Warming, I was watching an earth day special this week about the rain forests of south america. We hear so much about the CO & CO2 "poisoning" that is causing the global warming, yet the gal in this video was stating a FACT: 5% of one rain forest will produce as much carbon monoxide in 1 day as ALL the vehicles in the U.S.A.

I thought that was very interesting.

The oil in the strategic reserve will be tapped first and foremost by the military - our equipment goes through an awesome amount of fuel and oil daily - and after the military will come the truckers, since food and every other consumable travels hundreds of miles just to get to the stores. Not saying that there won't be anything left for us commuters but there will be damn little. There may be a lot of oil left to drill but it's no longer inexpensive to drill it, especially when you talk about drilling off the coast of somewhere. You got to go thru miles of ocean and then many more miles of the earth to get to it, and you're very vulnerable to storms, accidents, etc. out there. Cheap oil is gone - expensive oil won't ever be cheap, given the rising demand for it from all the other countries. We have been fortunate to live in a time when oil - and therefore gas - was abundant and easy to retrieve. Our descendants will have a much different world.

I think we need to look into the fact that the majority of the oil we import comes from where? Canada. And, the majority of the oil coming down the Alaska pipeline is sold to whom? Japan. This is something for which I'd like to find a reasonable explanation. Oh yes, be sure to vote in November. I predict that a change, ANY change, after damage repair, will stimulate the economy, and in doing so will hopefully slow the rising fuel prices. JMO

I think someone has been mislead. We have a pipeline directly to Canada and they are processing our oil for us and selling it back to us as gas. Also we no longer let any of the oil from Alaska go anywhere except to the stations in the US that are shipping it to Canada and Mexico.

With predictions like that it is a sure sign the bubble is soon to burst. It is a last call for brokers to pitch speculative investment in the commodity. You might try ear plugs to give your fingers a rest. I expect the price of oil to drop in half in the next three to four years. And I have been wrong before so we will see. Just remember 1979/1981 we had predictions of $100 a barrel by 1985 and it took 20 years extra to get there.

Sorry. That Alaska pipeline stuff I quoted was from information we received on a very recent visit to ....you guessed it, the Alaska pipeline. Or did you mean that YOU had been mislead? I like getting information direct from the source.

Even with the cost of fuel, it's still cheaper for us to live on the road than in a house. The cost of fuel would have to more than double what it is now to come close to the cost of us living in a house, if in the future we needed to come off the road, we have a plan in place and the ability to impliment it. I have very little time to worry about the possible clamities that might befall us, that time is better spent making it as painless as possible.

At $1.74/gallon, maybe it's time to cut Puerto Rico loose or make them "pay their way".

Ya... like ... what's that all about... paying 1/2 of what the rest of the US is paying.

I can't really tell you because:

1) I'd have to kill you

Or

2)I'd spend a lot of time typing only to have it deleted.

Or Worse

2) I'd be banned from the RVNet.
