We are going out this weekend for the "shakedown" run with our new TT. Weather is not supposed to be that great. A mix of rain and cold and wind in the forecast (not freezing though). We are going none-the-less as the main point of this trip is to see what we forgot/learn how to use the systems in the camper. We are only going about 10 miles from home so it if gets too bad we can just come home. Anyway, that got me started thinking. Then we were part of the PUP crowd, we would only go if the weather looked passable (warm, no rain for at least 2 of the three days). This would cut down many potential camping opportunities and was one of the reasons we stepped up to a hard side trailer (we can go regardless of the weather, within reason).

So my question to you is, do you:

Only go when it looks to be "nice" the whole weekend/week?

or

Schedule the trip and go come heck or high water?

Thanks!

Weather be damned !!

If I were to wait for the weather to be nice enough to camp we would never go, too cold, too hot, too wet, too dry. While we have not camped in snow, we have seen sleet, remainders of hurricanes, 100 + degree, and just good ole campin' weather !

I might change my tune if I was tent camping or had a pop-up...but I don't ! Enjoy your trip and have FUN !!!!

If we let the weather dictate our camping.... we would never go camping. We live in the Northwest. The weather completely changes every 5 minutes.

I say go for it. Forecast here is not great either. This will be a good time to test out your trailer's systems. Enjoy your weekend.

I can drink cold beer by the fire or under the awning watching it rain. Makes no difference to me, it still taste delicious.

Our first camping trip was on a weekend that it rained and got down near freezing on all 4 days. This was predicted and we still went.

I would not go to the NC coast if a hurricane were predicted. We do have plans to take our TT to Western NC if a hurricane is predicted to the coast because we are only 50 miles from the coast. We've had a cat 1 eye come over the house before we got the TT and look at it as a way to get the TT out of harms way and go camping. We also have plans to live in it after the hurricane until the power and water is stable.

I think I would avoid going camping by the east coast when there is a Hurricane warning.

But since we don't have Hurricanes here that's not a problem. We do have Earthquakes though, but they don't have those pesky warnings, besides our TT has shocks!!

We go whenever we can. We are kind of like the mailman, neither rain nor snow nor dark of night keep us home!
We like to hear the rain on the roof of the fiver and it'a a good thing because we live in the Pacific Northwest.

Our situation may be a bit differant as we never do weekend trips. Shortest outng is at least a month so the weather doesn't dictate a go/no-go but it may influance our route and stops. We might stop early, spend an extra day somewhere, or even change our destination if weather is crappy.

Besides, if the weather is bad, we couldn't play golf so might as well go somewere else.
