They are a lot more comfortable. So much more room to move around in. We areenjoying our new 5er with a super slide so much more than the previous rig without.

In our new Big Horn, we are able to access all of our trailer with the slides in. It is narrow where the kitchen counter comes close to the table but not impassable. Everything in the kitchen is accessible. Only cabinets or drawers we cant get into are the dresser drawers in the bathroom.

In some TT's, bathroom access cannot be gained when the slides are in. In a MH, I don't think it would be a problem as they are made to be traveled in. That is why a lot of them have a smaller slide, rather that the standard sized slide.

Hi Jeff: We have a Forest River 5th wheel with one slide out for the dinning set and the sofa. When the slide is inside for travel we can
use the table (dinning set), sofa, ref. and the toilet. This model of 5th wheel has the entry door a the rear of the unit. We can also use the bed room area. When the slide out is open there is just a lot more room. Happy Camping. Jim2007

With our slide in it's a little tight for about 20 inches, but everything is accessable and usable except for access to the water heater and one overhead cabinet.
I sure won't buy one if it blocked access to parts of the trailer or the bath, sink/stove and refer.

This is nothing new. We get through our MH very easy but can't get back to the closet when the bedroom slide is in. I remember our '74 HiLo. My wife made up the bed while I was sitting the bathroom and we found out she had to put the sofa back up so I could get out of the bathroom. We had to ;eave the door open before opening the bed.

When our slides are in we have access to everything except the dresser drawers and one cabinet in the dining area. I personally wouldn't buy an RV that wasn't accessible going down the road.
As someone else mentioned if we stop at a rest stop/Walmart/Casino for a sleepover stop we don't even bother with the slides and we can still use the toilet, shower, fridge, micro, stove, etc.

"Many, but not all" RV's are really quite comfortable even with the slides in. But most will have some areas that are inaccessible with slides in--you just have to know where NOT to put anything you may need when you're on the road and won't be opening the slides. It's also a good idea to not put anything absolutely important in cabinets that can't be opened with slides in--a friend had all operating manuals stored in one of those when the slide had a problem and simply wouldn't open...he couldn't get to the book to find out how to troubleshoot the problem!
The pull-out pantry in ours is difficult to get into with the slide in so I don't store bread or chips or anything we typically want to eat at rest stops there. We couldn't access the hanging closet with the bi-fold doors without opening the slide--so I replaced the doors with drapes that match the decor of the bedroom and like that much better anyway.
If you're shopping for an RV, ALWAYS look at them with the slides in and out and avoid any that have vital areas (bathroom, fridge, etc.) that can't be accessed with slides in.

If it's too cramped, you could always travel with the slides out.
