We live near Land Between the lakes NRA, and have yet to be able to check out all the campgrounds it contains within an hour from home! While I always look forward to our occasional long trips, I do NOT take for granted the great beauty we have at our own doorstep.

We have two state parks within a 15 minute drive that we camp at often. We are very lucky in that there are quite a few state parks within a couple of hours from us.

Absolutely!!!

My park is 18.6 miles from home or 31 minutes...

Getting there, setting up is quick and easy, makes for a long 3 day weekend. Wish there were more CG's closer to home. Besides, when we get there, nobody knows we only live a half hour away...

We live about 9 miles from Bayou Segnette SP and have gone there often when we were both working and couldn't "really" get out of town. Then when Miss Sue's mom was in the nursing home it worked well then. Miss Sue is going to California in a couple of weeks for our Grandaughters college graduation, only so many places to sit so Lucy and I will go to Segnette, bring the fishing pole and do some bonding. Life is good close to home also.

we have a bunch with in 10 miles of home don't see anything wrong with it, it would be better then staying at home its a change of scenery from the same old thing.you could always go to work from there and check on the house if needed I know some people that stay in a park a few miles from home and stay for a week or two and go to work from there.

Is Camp Driveway close enough? :-)

My wife DOES think I'm nuts for it... the kids LOVE it.

To the OP, yes we camp at 4 different places within 25-30 miles. At 6.7 MPG, close is good. At 0 gallons, camp driveway may get more use this year...

We use camp driveway too, full hookups already set up.
If we had a SP 2 miles away we'd be there quite often. We do have a military CG about 30 minutes away that we use for weekend get aways.
