I figured out what is causing the leak in my shower. The leak was right below the tub. There appears to be a crack in the PVC P trap. The problem is that the access vent is only about 6" by 8". The area around the pipe is even smaller. I guess it would be necessary to remove the tub to get to it. I don't want to do it myself and I'm pretty sure a repair shop would need about $500 to do it.

Here's my question: what are my options to reinforce the PVC pipe without cutting it or removing the tub? Can I paint the cracks with some glue and stop the slow leak? What glue should be used? Should I use plumber's tape? Thanks in advance.

You might try some of that epoxy putty they advertise on TV. I've used epoxy and glass mat with success (doesn't look good, put does work).
Water froze in the trap?

Why not give it a try....My 7 year old always says "Mom, you need that stuff" whenever the commercial is on...

And then let us know if it doesn't work.

How about this stuff? Seems like a handy thing to have around an RV, anyway.

If you can get your hands into the area of the crack, that two part epoxy putty will solve your problem. Home Depot sells that expoxy stick in the plumbing department. It is called Plumber's Epoxy or something like that. I repaired a crack in the flushing water bowl of a toilet four years ago with that stuff and it is still holding. I have also repaired the plastic fender on my camper and it worked like a champ. That stuff really works!

Try "Plumbers Goop". Available at Home Depot. The trap must be dry inside and out when you apply it. I've seen it work on a cracked toilet tank.

I bought some Rescue tape at an RV show. If you can wrap it around the cracked pipe it will do the job. If not I'd try one of the Goop products or Shoe Goo.
