If you are on a public sewer system and want to dump into their system I would check with them. Many will tell you can not dump into their system because you have chemicals in your system. The reason I know this is because I am on the board of our local sewer authority.

Where do all the places that let you dump your tanks send their collections of stuff?

The Crestline Sanitation District, up in the mountains where I live states that it is against the rules and regulations and has been for a long time, to dump in clean out or any other sewer system attached to your house because of the chemicals used in your tank. They recommend a special dump place that charges $5 per dump... I have never been there.

Boy, I feel overwhelmed. I am not sure if I can ever poop again. I am not sure if it is because the rules are so different, depending where you live, or so much misinformation. Probably a bit of both.
I will not challenge any specific post, but would advise an unknowing reader to take this thread as entertainment only, and check where you live to see what you can or cannot do.
Personally, I have lived the past 35-years on well water and a septic system. I have had this experience in no less than two counties, and and three sewer districts. I am truly amazed at some of the stuff I read here. I think I will go and mix a margarita.
whazoo, you and trails2004 are welcome to join me. It would probably be more healthy than some of the info we get.

Sounds like money is the issue. Sewer rates are generally tied to the water meter reading. An RV is likely dumping water that has not gone through a local water meter.
Formaldahyde is a problem, but black tank products containing it are hard to find any more. All the bleach that goes down a typical drain is probably just as big a problem.
I've also dumped at a sewage treatment plant. No questions about chemical use.

Well, you did not have to post it. Now, no one will come to one of my parties.
