Crossing into BC at Sumas, WA about May 10. Know about no guns, necessary papers for us and the dogs, but what about foodstuffs such as frozen beef, chicken, pork and fresh eggs, fruit, veggies? We spent the winter in Mexico and had mucho problems with this.

You never know what they are going to check, if anything at all. It varies from enty point to entry point. We crossed the border numerous times last year and none of the places asked about any food item. A couple of years ago it was chicken and certain dog foods. Just go and do not worry about it.

They are not usually too picky what you bring into Canada from the USA. I've NEVER been asked when I declare food. Just make a list of all your items. That way, if Border Patrol asks you, you know exactly what you have and there are no surprises. If something isn't allowed, then they will just take it. Booze and cigarettes have a limit, so make sure you are within those limits if you don't want to get dinged with duty.
