Merry Christmas Clark!! Sh*tters full. (excerpt from Christmas Vacation). Very nasty indeed. My father taught me to leave things Better than how I found them. Been Morel Mushroom hunting the last few weeks, I bet I've carried as many beer cans and pop bottles out of the woods as I have mushrooms. People just don't get it.

this is what we have always done it and my 4yr old even understands why we do it.

And to think I didn't have to learn it either.

hats off to skip

Everyone here is condemning these people instead of helping them. The way you talk and act you expect everyone to know how to camp by your rules from birth.

Everyone has to learn proper camping camping etiquete, it is not a gene you a born with.

What a bunch of snobs. Quit your complaining, and stop acting like judge, jury and executioner and help people learn. Not everyone was raised camping, many of them are just starting.

I don't even think "camping etiquette" is the issue here. How about some good old common sense and courtesy. People that can't seem to open a drain cover and place their dump hose in properly, shouldn't even be using a camper. You don't need a "gene" telling you not to dump your waste on the ground.

I guess my opinion makes me one of the "snobs" here, then so be it, I will where my "snob sign" proudly.

Very well put and I think that about sums it up, just no "common sense". It doesn't have anything to do with 'training' because these people just don't have an ounce of good judgment in them. Loud music until the wee hours of the morning, kids running around unsupervised (with scissors, mind you), trash thrown where ever they want, 25 people sleeping in a 8 person RV, etc, etc. Like others have stated, you just can't fix stupid. I don't think we are snobs per say it might be just a difference between "civilized" and "uncivilized".

Wow, I opened up a can o' worms with that one. Yes, we did pull our hose and wash it down, but let me tell you something, I sure didn't "paste a smile on my face" while I did it. And I did think that maybe they had a problem with a hose or tank or whatever, but you can't tell me that they didn't realize what had happened. If I had to dump my tank on the ground because of a mechanical problem, I still would have known better to rinse it off, not just leave it. This is common sense, people. I'm not a confrontational person at all, but it's unsanitary, and dangerous. Just so you know we were at Assateague State Park, and it's usually quite nice.

Add this to why we boondock and avoid CG's like the plague.

Good advice about checking your valves and adding an extra. I've found that one out the hard way.

And Skip, c'mon, blocking people in? I definately agree with you in theory, but in practice? I don't know. I don't think I'd risk a full on firefight with my kids in the truck. I think I'd write down the license plate, clean up the mess myself and perhaps deal with the guy a little more covertly sometime in the future. Anonymous letter to his house; report him to the CG Host, etc.

And by the way, how are you supposed to help them if they are probably out dumping their tank before other campers are awake? They probably snuck out. YOU be nice and tell the next person you see doing this that you want to help them. They'd flip you the bird and drive away. The people that would do this don't read boards like this, and they're probably the same people who teach their kids not to flush toilets in public bathrooms.

I can just picture them back home, swimming, washing, pooping, drinking all out of the same water source. Ah, Third World Countries, gotta love'm.

On a side note, that's a good tip on checking your value before you open up the cap, I'll have to remember that!

Listen, if you saw this place about 10 miles from us, you wouldn't be laughing. I would bet my last dollar that the kids do this!!! Really sad.

We dumped the black tank on the ground but it was not done on purpose. We were just new to RVs. We drove up to the dump station, got the hose out. We didn't realize the valve was left open and we pulled the cap and it spilled out all over the ground. eewww!! We were grossed out and embarrassed BUT we did clean the mess up ourselves and did not leave it for other people.

I've been physically restrained from getting out and "talking" with folks at dump stations before when they're doing that. I DID park in front of one guy and wouldn't let him leave until he cleaned up the mess. He started honking his horn and inching toward me and I just ignored him. He finally got the hint and cleaned up the dump station then I backed out of his way.

Sounds like you have control issues.

You may be proud of what you did. Stupid and proud aren't a good combination though.

Attaboy meriflower1985, everyone makes a mistake and a mess now and then, but you were responsible and cleaned it up.
